Teen Driver Charged in Fatal Easton Accident

A 17-year-old Easton teen has been charged in the car accident that killed 71-year-old George E. Power and his dog.

Charges have been filed against the teen driver involved in the fatal accident that killed an Easton man and his dog Monday morning, according to an email from Easton Police Chief Allen Krajcik.


A 17-year-old Easton teenager, of Olivia Road, will appear in Taunton District Court at some point for a hearing and will face charges of negligently speeding with death resulting, speeding, and failure to stay in marked lanes.

He is a student at Oliver Ames High School and a member of the football team, according to WHDH channel 7. He was apparently on his way from from practice when the incident occurred around 9:24 a.m. 

According to police, the 2005 Infiniti Sedan the teen was driving, struck the victim, 71-year-old George E. Power of North Easton, and his dog near or on the sidewalk on Summer Street before striking a tree and coming to rest.

Power, whose dog was also killed, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, where he was pronounced dead at 10:06 a.m. The teen was taken to Brockton Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
