Easton's Community Preservation Committee is accepting applications for funding in the upcoming year.
"The Community Preservation Committee is now accepting applications for FY2014 funding under the Community Preservation Act," the committee said in a statement. "All applications should be submitted no later than January 3, 2013 at 5:30 pm to the Planning and Community Development Department., Town Offices, 136 Elm St. Applications received by this date will be taken under consideration for the 2013 May Annual Town Meeting. Community preservation funds are a product of the Community Preservation Act: a 3 percent property tax surcharge adopted by the Town of Easton to help fund affordable housing, open space initiatives and historical preservation.
Recently, the funds have been used to restore Oakes Ames Hall and Queset Gardens, obtain the Ames Shovel Shops, and build the Edwin A. Keach Memorial Park on Chestnut Street.
