Easton Selectmen Expand Senior Workoff Program After Strong Response From Veterans

The new spots accommodate all of the Veterans who applied

Easton Selectmen approved a provision to the Senior Tax Workoff Program last month that added an additional five spots to the program for Easton's Veterans.

The additional five spots are added on to the five that were added at Easton's Special Town Meeting on Nov. 19. In total, 10 spots are now claimed by Easton's Veterans.

Council on Aging Director Del Kent told selectmen that the program received nine applications for five spots, and asked that the Board approve the addition of four more so a lottery would not have to take place. Selectmen approved four more spots, and added an additional spot to make it "an even 10."

"It’s good to see that there's been a good response to the program," Board of Selectmen Chair Colleen Corona said.

The 10 veterans spots are part of a Senior Tax Workoff Program in town that allows seniors to work in town for up to a $1,000 Real Estate Tax Credit. The Program currently allows for 35 participants - 10 of which are Veterans.
