ECAT to Feature Live Coverage

Town meetings will be broadcast live on ECAT

Beginning this spring, you won't have to travel to Elm Street to watch the Board of Selectmen meeting as it happens.

Easton Community Access Television is looking to broadcast government meetings live on Comcast 98/ FIOS 23, rather than recently recorded versions of the meetings.

"The technology now exsists for us to be able to broadcast those meetings," ECAT Executive Director Jason Daniels told Selectmen Monday. "There are a few pieces of equipment that I would need to further purchase, but I wanted to get the OK to move forward."

Selectmen unanimously agreed that it would be a good idea, giving Daniels the go-ahead to purchase the necessary equipment.

For Daniels, one of ECAT's missions will be better achieved with live coverage of government meetings like Selectmen, Planning and Zoning, Finance Committee, Conservation Committee and School Committee.

"As the executive director, I’m always looking for ways to fulfill our mission," he said. "One of the aspects of what I do is to try to keep government transparent."
