Mass. Welfare Could be Going to Other Countries, Easton Rep. Shaunna O'Connell Says

According to the Boston Herald, Easton’s state Rep. Shaunna O’Connell is fervently asking authorities to probe into EBT cases and find out how much of what welfare precipitants are receiving is actually going overseas.

She brought up the issue, saying she is unaware of anything happening in Massachusetts, after a report issued in New York last week stating many welfare recipients are sending their groceries bought with electronic benefit transfer funds to relatives overseas.

The New York report states that offenders are shipping literally tons of groceries overseas in large blue barrels, many of which can be found here and O’Connell said she wants to know if there is any such practice occurring in Massachusetts.
