Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren to Debate Tonight on WBZ

The two candidates for the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts will square off for the first time in a live televised debate at WBZ studios in Boston.

U.S. Senate candidates Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren will go head to head on Thursday night in a live televised debate at WBZ studios in Boston.

The debate, the first in a series of four, will take place tonight, Sept. 20th from 7 to 8 p.m. on WBZ-TV, WBZ Newsradio 1030 and CBS Boston.com.

Jon Keller, WBZ-TV News’ Political Analyst will serve as moderator of the debate.

“Debates are an opportunity to get beyond the sound bites and find out where the candidates really stand,” said Senator Brown in a statement. “... I am pleased to accept this TV debate offer so that Massachusetts voters will be able to see these differences for themselves.”

Warren told CBS Boston she plans to “Talk about what I’ve been talking about all around the Commonwealth for a year now, and that is, the game is rigged.”

This first televised debate comes at a time when Warren has taken the lead in recent polling among likely Massachusetts voters.

Future debates will be held on Oct. 1st at UMass Lowell, Oct. 10 in Springfield, and Oct. 30 on WGBH.

Senator Brown, Have you been meeting with Kings and Queens daily this week? Also, will they give you money to pay for all the services we need to keep our state safe and healthy?

Brown is bobbing and weaving but Warren is landing the punches.

Had to change the channel after 20 minutes. Sounded more like a school yard he said, she said than a debate between two Senate candidates. I don't know who set up the ground rules but I really expected better from John Keller as moderator.

Why won't Elizabeth Warren release her Harvard application?

Independent teacher, and veteran for Senator Brown! Again! Why should I vote for Warren? Is it because she has a D after her name?

This was a well run debate. I have a comment for both Senator Brown and Professor Warren: We need to let gas prices go up and push better public transportation.

Waaren - you are the worst kind. At least admit that you are a communist. Just like a Boston Globe. I have experienced your kind and that is why I left and came here. I just can't believe that cheaters and liars like Warren are getting any votes. The only thing Warren can do for women is to impoverish them. More debt and more taxes: the good socialist way. America, look at Europe. 50 years of socialist experiment and they all broke or very close Robert from Lakeville, MA
