Senator Joyce Sworn Into Office

Senator Brian A. Joyce has officially been sworn in to represent the Norfolk, Bristol and Plymouth District for the 188th Session of the General Court. Joyce was sworn into office by Governor Deval Patrick during a ceremony at the State House in Boston. 

Joyce represents precincts 3-6 in Easton.        

“It is a great privilege to work in the Massachusetts Senate for the 170,000 people in my district. It’s a job where every day I have an opportunity to help people, and to make a discernible difference in the lives of lots of Massachusetts families,” said Joyce. “I recognize how fortunate I am to serve, and work very hard and get results for the taxpayers for whom I work. I know that the next couple years will bring significant challenges in the areas of job creation, infrastructure repairs and transportation improvements, to name a few, and I’m happy to start this session and address those challenges.”

Committee assignments will be announced in the coming weeks. In the last session, Senator Joyce served as Senate Chair of the Committee on Bonding, Capital Expenditures and State Assets, as well as the Senate Vice Chair of the Health Care Financing Committee and Vice Chair of the Financial Services Committee. He was also a member of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, and sat on the Economic Development & Emerging Technologies, Elder Affairs and Transportation Committees.

Through these committees he was able to work closely on critical legislation like health care reform, transportation and infrastructure bonding, and the Jobs Bill last year.
