80 OA Seniors Qualify For Adams Scholarship

Oliver Ames High released the names of 80 seniors who qualify for the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship, which earns them four years of free tuition at and Massachusetts State or Community College.

The Following is a statement from Easton Public Schools:

Principal Wes Paul announced the names of 80 Seniors whose names were released from the Department of Education as qualifiers for the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship based on their performance on the spring 2012 grade 10 MCAS tests. The scholarship recognizes high achievement on MCAS tests. In order to qualify students must either have scored Advanced on one exam and Proficient on the other or Advanced on both the English and Math exams. It entitles the student to four years on free tuition at a University of Massachusetts campus or participating Massachusetts State or Community College beginning with the fall 2014 semester.

Now in its tenth year, the Adams Scholarship rewards student achievement and provides families of college bound students with financial assistance. The scholarship covers tuition only. Fees room and board textbooks and other expenses are not covered.

We are proud of all the success our students have achieved with MCAS at Oliver Ames High School. Our students’ determination to put forth their best effort and accurately demonstrate their subject area knowledge and higher order thinking skills is a tremendous reflection of all the work and preparation that every teacher in our school system has invested in the students of Easton. These students represent our school system Oliver Ames High School the Town of Easton and their families in a remarkable manner. I extend my sincere congratulations to all recipients of this scholarship program and wish all of the continued success in their college search as they prepare to take their skills and knowledge to a new school next fall.
