Carroll Named Permanent Principal For Easton Middle School

The former assistant principal has served in the role on an interim basis since the retirement of John Giuggio.

Easton Middle School interim principal Luke Carroll will drop the "interim" from his title, Easton Superintendent Michael Green announced Thursday night.

"Last spring we appointed Mr. Carroll as the interim principal of the middle school," Green told the School Committee. "Luke has certainly done an outstanding job and since then we have heard nothing but good things from staff and parents alike."

Carroll will take over permanently for John Giuggio, who retired last year after 10 1/2 years in the Easton Public School system and over 40 years as an educator.

Carroll served under Giuggio as the assistant principal at Easton Junior High School/Easton Middle School since 2004.

"I think we’re very fortunate to have Luke," School Committee member Caroline O'Neill said. "He will be continuing a lengthy period of terrific leadership at the middle school."

Carroll, an Easton resident, said he considers himself "lucky" to be working in Easton Public Schools. Since taking over, he said he has worked with "tremendous administrators and fabulous teachers."

"I’ve been pretty lucky," he said. "I’ve been here since 2004. From the perspective of a resident - I live in the town and have kids in three different schools - it’s an amazing place to work."

School Committee Chair Anne Martin said Carroll is striking a strong balance between providing a new perspective and keeping traditions of old.

"Balancing that with taking a fresh new perspective on some things - I do understand that that’s a delicate balance but you’re doing such an exceptional job," she said.
