Center School Principal Announces Retirement

After nine years, Center School will have a new leader next year.

Center School Principal Debbie Dicenso will retire after this year.

The announcement came at a school committee meeting last week in which Committee Chair Jane Martin read a letter from Dicenso to the rest of the committee.

"Working with such a caring, honest, invested staff has truly been a gift," Dicenso wrote in her letter.

Dicenso has been the principal of Center School for the past nine years. Prior to that, she spent 27 years as a teacher in the Stoughton school system.

"She’s certainly done an outstanding job throughout the years and has been a very valued member of our administrative cabinent team," Superintendent Michael Green said.

School Committee member Caroline O'Neill said Dicenso took on a mentoring role in recent years for newly hired elementary principals Chris Getchell (Parkview School) and Nick Bothello (Moreau Hall).

Green said the process will now begin to replace Dicenso as the Center School principal. He said advertising will begin this week.

The hiring process, he hopes, will be completed by July 1.
