Easton School Officials Near Complete with '13-'14 Calendar

The Easton School Committee is well on its way to finalizing the 2013-2014 school calendar.

While professional development days have yet to be established and an official calendar has not yet been released, school officials were able to approve the start day, end day and vacation days for next year's school year.

The school year will begin after an early Labor Day (Sept. 2). The next day, Tuesday, Sept. 3 is the first day for teachers. On Wednesday, Sept. 4, students in grades 1-12 will begin their school year. Sept. 5 is a day off for Rosh Hashanah. On Friday, Sept. 6, all students (preschool-12) will squeeze one day in before the weekend.

A full five-day week will follow for all grades from Sept. 9-13.

The final day of school is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18. Should five snow days occur, the final day would be Wednesday, June 25.

For Thanksgiving, schools will close midway through the day Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 29.

School will be closed during the holiday season from Monday, Dec. 23 through Tuesday, Jan. 1 with students returning on Jan. 2.

February vacation in 2014 will occurr from Feb. 17-21 and April vacation will occur from April 21-25.
