Toddlers to Seniors Pampered at Southeastern Regional's 3rd Annual Childcare Beauty Day

(South Easton) – Four year old Vanessa Hopgood selected a different color polish for each of her fingernails, with a kitty cat on her thumb, but still got a surprise at Southeastern Regional’s Annual Childcare Beauty Day: “It tickles!” Vanessa brought her grandmother and former student at Southeastern Regional, Joanne Hopgood of Easton, to be pampered alongside her as her special guest. “This is where I went to high school, and now my granddaughter is here enjoying the preschool,” she noted. “I plan to come back to the salon with my mother or mother in law. The students do a lovely job.”

Young Tyler Lavigne and Grandma Karen Potter enjoyed having pedicures together. “This is really nice,” said Ms. Potter. “I feel special because I’m being pampered and spending time with my grandson. I can’t believe how busy they are here, and they do hair and everything. I would like to come back.”

Back when the Early Education and Care Program was across the hall from Cosmetology, instructor Mrs. Kobey thought it would be nice for her students to work on younger clientele. “We decided to do this as a community service and allow the little ones to invite a guest to come with them for a spa day.” Early Education and Care is currently housed in a separate building on the school campus, but the tradition continues.

The salon also treated a group of five men and women from the Stoughton Senior Center to haircuts, styling and pedicure services. “We do so much and need to enjoy ourselves and find something to be happy about,” said Jane Geho of Stoughton.
