Easton Native Gracie Gold in First Place after Short Program

Skater Gracie Gold is in first place after the short program Thursday night at the U.S. Championships in Boston.

Skater Gracie Gold, who held a closed practice at Loring Arena earlier this week, skated in the U.S. National Championships Thursday night.

After the short program, the teen, who was born in Newton and lived in Easton util age 5, is in first place. The long program is Saturday, night when the 2014 U.S. National Champion will be crowned.

In 2013 Gold won the silver medal at the national championships. She was not in first place after the short program, but won the long program to captured second place.

The 2014 Olympic team will be named after the U.S. National skating champion is crowned.
