Easton Soccer Sends an Unprecedented Four Teams to Massachusetts Tournament of Champions

Four Easton Youth Soccer teams will compete this weekend in the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions

For the first time in program history, Easton Youth Soccer will be sending four teams to compete for a State Championship in the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions.

"This year, overall, we’ve been outstanding," Program Director John Barata said. "We sent 16 out of 21 eligible teams to the South Shore League playoffs. Last year, we sent nine and were very happy with that."

Three of the four teams; the U12 girls, U14 girls and U18 girls were all recently crowned champions of the South Shore League. The U12 boys were runners-up and earned a wild-card bid in the 12 team state-wide tournament.

The U18 girls team features many of the key components of this year's Oliver Ames girls' varsity team that battled all the way to thelast fall. Coach Abramson's squad won the title last year and is looking to defend it's crown.

Barata said the upswing in the program can be attributed to good coaching, good volunteers and good players.

"It’s improving year after year," he said. "The kids are getting better to coach. The league itself is getting better. The volunteers are getting stronger. I would say that Easton Soccer is doing a great job."
