Updated: Oliver Ames Baseball Tourney Game Against Hingham Now Set For Wednesday

Editor's Note: Due to weather, the MIAA has postponed Monday's Div. II South Sectional Quarterfinal game to Wednesday at 4 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Monday before being postponed to Tuesday. Now it has been postponed another day.

The Hingham and Oliver Ames' baseball team are no strangers to each other.

Over the years, the two schools have played non-league matches, so the Tigers should be able to find Hingham's Cronin Field pretty easily. The field is located right behind town hall.

The game will be at Hingham Tuesday for a 4 p.m. game in the Division 2 South tournament.

The Habormen finished the season with a 15-3 record, earning the No. 2 seed spot in the postseason and have been waiting around for the tournament to start, while Tigers got a 5-4 win in nine innings over Pembroke in the preliminary round.

After the , the only concern Tiger head coach Leo Duggan had was who to pitch in the first round game. David Holmes started against Pembroke, going five and 1/3 innings, and wasn't expected to be available to start Monday. David McKinnon was another option, but he was the winning pitcher in relief Friday, going three and 2/3 innings, probably limiting his time on the mound today.

If the Pembroke game had gone any longer, Duggan did have veteran lefthander Ryan O'Shea, who has been limited by injures, ready to go as he was warming up late in the game.

"He could have him pitch (against Pembroke)," said Duggan after Friday's game.

The veteran OA coach also said he wouldn't hestitate going to one of his younger pitchers.

"I have a lot of confidence in my freshmen pitchers," he said.

Freshmen Brandan Welch and Alex Geba are the other arms on the staff also with juniors Brian Brady and Eddie Deveau and sophomores Brian Capece and Chris Servello.

Hingham head coach Frank Niles is in his first year coaching the Harbormen, but is no stranger to baseball on the South Shore from his experience with the Weymouth Elks in the Cranberry League and running the South Shore Baseball Club.

The Harbormen have a talended left handed pitcher in Rob Madden.

The winner of the OA-Hingham first round game will advance to meet the winner of the Plymouth North-Dennis-Yarmouth game in the semifinals. OA and Plymouth North have also been dance partners in the postseason in recent years, including a memorable game at Frothingham Park in 2010 with the Eagles winning in dramatic fashion.
