WANTED

WANTED: Attempted Easton Bank Robbery

A 2009 attempted bank robbery suspect is still on the loose.

On 12/23/09 at 10:57 a.m., subject entered the Bank of Easton located at 275 Washington Street, Easton and passed the teller a note. The note stated this is a robbery and demanded cash. The robber was described as a white male, in his 30's, 5'8" about 210 lbs. wearing a black knit hat, dark sunglasses with yellow tint lenses, navy blue ski jacket, hood with a grey stripe, jeans, sneakers, with one to two days of hair growth on his face and walks with a slight limp. Alleged Jewelry Thief Arrested After Fleeing Police and Hiding in Storm Drain

Christopher Azevedo was arrested for breaking and entering and larceny.

An Easton resident was arrested Thursday after fleeing from Easton Police and hiding in a narrow storm drain pipe with six inches of water. Christopher Azevedo, age 27 of 464 Foundry St. was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and larceny. He also had several outstanding warrants, Police Chief Allen Krajcik said. As of Thursday evening, he was being held at the Easton Police Department. The pursuit began after Wednesday's investigation in which stolen jewelry was returned to a Greenwood Village resident. Upon further investigation, Sgt John Lynn and Det Leonard Coe went to 464 Foundry Street to follow up with a photo of Azevedo that was taken by a surveillance video in the Greenwood Village complex. An investigation Wednesday led to the recovery of some stolen jewelry

An Easton resident has their jewelry back today after an investigation Wednesday that led police to another Easton home. At approximately 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a past housebreak at Greenwood Village, a condominium complex near the Five Corners, Police Chief Allen Krajcik said. The resident said that she had left her condo for "about an hour" and when she returned a rear sliding glass door was smashed and jewelry, a television and other items were missing. After observing footprints in the back yard and stolen jewelry on the ground, a canine team was called in to follow the trail. The dogs led police to 464 Foundry Street, the Azevedo residence, where more jewelry was found in the back yard. "Officers were given consent …

Fire Causes 'Significant Damage' To Lynda Road Home

An Easton family was displaced Sunday night after a barrel fire turned into a house fire.

What started as an outside barrel fire on Lynda Road Sunday night quickly escalated into a house fire that sent fire departments to the scene and displaced an Easton family. Fire Chief Kevin Partridge said that a "significant amount of damage to the property" on 10 Lynda Road was caused after a barrel fire on the back deck managed to generate enough heat to light the wood on fire. No injuries were reported. "[The homeowner] put tile under the barrel but it was ceramic tile and the heat was transferred right through the deck," Partridge said. "Over time it was enough to cause the wood deck to catch on fire. It went up the wood deck and up the side of the house and into the attic. Today we'll feature Easton Fire Chief Kevin Partridge, who took over in January for outoging Chief Thomas Stone. Patch: Why did you decide to become a firefighter? Partridge: I was 17 years old and I had an interest. I didn’t have anyone in my family who was in it but for some reason I had an interest in being a firefighter when I saw fire trucks drive by as a kid. I found out about the fire department I lived in in Swansea. It was volunteer and I had to be 18. So, in the meantime, I got into an EMT training class and got an EMT license. Easton FD Assists in Early Morning Fire in Stoughton That Leaves 17 Homeless

The Easton Fire Department Assisted ino a three-alarm fire on Park St. in Stoughton on May 1. There were no injuries, but multiple people were displaced.

Article updated at 9:50 a.m. on May 1: An early morning fire at a home on Park Street in Stoughton has displaced 18 people, including an infant, Stoughton Fire Chief Mark Dolloff said. The SFD received a call at 1:22 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1 for a smell of smoke at 34/36 Park St. in Stoughton, in what ended up being a three-alarm blaze. There were heavy fire conditions in this large 2.5 story wood frame structure, according to theStoughton Fire Department's Facebook page. It took about three hours to knock down the fire. While five families were displaced, there were no reports of injuries to civilians or to the crews that responded, according to SFD Captain Doug Campbell. Campbell said all residents self-evacuated.
