Wednesday, June 12 Early Morning Noise (6:34 a.m.) - A caller near Evolution Sports on Main St. reported that someone had been mowing their lawn for nearly a half hour. An officer was dispatched and told the person mowing their lawn that there is a 7 a.m. start time. Vandalism (6:54 a.m.) - A Shady Rest Rd. caller reports that someone used black spray paint all over Shady Rest Rd. The caller reports that it is on private property and town property. Officers responded to the scene, spoke to the homeowners and took photos. Car Stops (9-10 a.m.) - Easton Police pulled over five vehicles on Purchase St. between 9-10 a.m. One citation was issued, three written warnings were given and one verbal warning was given. The new app allows residents to report quality of life problems directly to their government in real time.
The Commonwealth Connect app was formally launched, with 54 cities and towns among the intial users, including Easton. “The Patrick Administration is committed to providing communities with tools and resources to improve the delivery of services our citizens want,” Secretary of Administration and Finance Glen Shor said in a press release. “Commonwealth Connect is just one more example of how we are creating innovative ways to empower the people of Massachusetts to build stronger and safer communities." The Commonwealth Connect app is based on the Citizens Connect app that was developed for the city of Boston. The U.S. Senate candidates have one week to go before voters head to the polls.
Gabriel Gomez and Edward Markey spent their final debate before next week's U.S. Senate special election clashing over their records and who has the better vision for both the commonwealth and their country. The debate, taped in Boston, broadcast on several local networks and moderated by veteran city newsman and Boston University professor R.D. Sahl, was the last of three contests before voters head to the polls to fill U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's former seat. No matter the issue, be it taxes, gun control, abortion, national security and their own personal and professional histories, the two men found disagreements at every turn. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for southern Bristol County until 9 p.m.
The National Weather Service is predicting up to two inches of rain in less than an hour this evening, which could cause flash flooding particularly in urban areas and locations with poor drainage. A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation, and the NWS recommends monitoring later forecasts and to be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.

Monday, June 10 Fraud (12:23 p.m.) - The pharmacist at CVS reported receiving two false prescriptions. Car Accident (2:52 p.m.) - A car accident was reported in the Oliver Ames High School parking lot. The two drivers exchanged information and one of them waited for AAA to come for a tow. Disturbance (8:49 p.m.) - A caller from Mary Dyer Ln. reported a disturbance in the community parking lot. An officer was dispatched and advised all the people involved. Tuesday, June 11 Napping Driver (2:09 a.m.) - A caller reports a car parked crooked with its lights on in the 7-Eleven parking lot on Washington St. It appears the driver is asleep. An officer went to check it out and found that the driver had just pulled over to take a rest. Animal in …

By Louis Stewart The aroma and smoke from fresh grilled hamburgers and hot dogs wafted through the air On Saturday as one of Easton’s most successful restaurants, Maguire’s Bar and Grill celebrated their twentieth anniversary with an old fashioned cookout. A picture perfect day, with crystal blue skies, greeted customers as they were treated to complimentary burgers, dogs and all the fixings. Donations were accepted on behalf of the Easton Food Pantry. $542.00 dollars was collected from patrons. The restaurant’s owners, Neil Levine, Michael O’Sullivan and Patrick Connell added in another $448.00 to bring the total donation to $1000.00. Debate to air on WCVB Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Another U.S. Senate election for Massachusetts is drawing to a close, with the two combatants set to square off one final time before voters head to the polls June 25. Democratic Congressman Edward Markey of Malden and Republican businessman and former U.S. Navy SEAL Gabriel Gomez will hold the last of three debates Tuesday evening in the race to fill the seat formerly held by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. The debate will air live from 7 to 8 p.m. on WCVB (Channel 5). The debate will be moderated by R.D. Sahl of Boston University.
