AROUND TOWN: A Walk in the Estate

Easton residents have been enjoying the Gov. Ames Estate

About Around Town: Every week day, we'll provide you with a scene from around Easton. Let us know what you think about the scene in our comments section! Easton resident Julie Halvorsen and her dog Lars were out for a walk Tuesday morning in the Governor Ames Estate. The 36-acre Estate is open to the public after officially being purchased by the Trustees of Reservation over the summer. Easton also contributed to the purchase. Voters approved the use of $500,000 of Community Preservation Act funds for the purchase of the estate's conservation restriction at the 2011 Annual Town Meeting. Signage is now set up across the estate letting residents know that it is open to the public.

About Around Town: Every week day, we'll provide you with a scene from around Easton. Let us know what you think about the scene in our comments section! Changes are coming to the plaza at 620 Washington Street. Friday morning, a construction worker was measuring the area where Mina's Pizza is placed on the main sign that faces Route 138. Mina's will soon be replaced with Baldie's Pizza and, by the looks of things, a new sign is coming very soon. Baldie's currently has one location in Bridgewater. The new Easton location will be their second.

Wash 'n' Depot Car Wash is open for business.

About Around Town: Every week day, we'll provide you with a scene from around Easton. Let us know what you think about the scene in our comments section! A new car wash is open on the corner of Depot Street and Washington Street and it is sporting a very familiar look. Wash 'n' Depot Car Wash officially opened in December and is in full swing if you're looking to get that salt off your car throughout the winter season. Much like many of Easton's "newer" buildings like North Easton Savings and the Easton Post Office on Main Street, the building is built to emulate the work of HH Richardson, whose work can be seen in the architecture of the Ames Free Library and Oakes Ames Hall.
