Easton’s Brennan Williams Taken in Third Round of NFL Draft Brennan Williams was selected by the Houston Texans in the third round of the National Football League Draft Friday night. Williams was the 89th player selected overall. An offensive tackle from the University of North Carolina. Williams was projected to be taken some time between the second and fourth round of this year's draft. Williams' roots are right here in the Shovel Town. The 6-6 315 pound lineman is a native of Easton and a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School. His father, Brent, played 11 years in the NFL as a defensive lineman, including a stint with the New England Patriots. Synagogues in Stoughton, Brockton, Randolph Looking to Merge A Tri-Congregational Discussion on Regionalization for three local synagogues was held on Thursday, Feb. 14 at Temple Beth Emunah in Brockton. Representatives of Ahavath Torah Congregation in Stoughton and Temple Beth Am in Randolph also attended the meeting, which attracted over 250 interested parties. The plan, still in the discussion phase, is for these three temples to merge into one congregation and use an interim site (Temple Beth Emunah) until a new building is constructed. The recommendation to merge, and begin attending services at the interim location in July of 2014 is not finalized. Each of the temple’s congregations still needs to vote on the plan. The vote is …

Shoplifting Leads to Arrest of Stoughton and Canton Residents On Saturday, Dec. 29 Norwood Police arrested 36-year-old Christin Quattrucci of Hayward Dr. in Stoughton and 49-year-old Ergin Abaz of Fairview Rd. in Canton. Norwood Police Dispatch received a call reporting that the two were observed shoplifting at the Norwood T.J. Maxx on Nahatan Street. It was reported to the responding officers Chris Flanagan and Jared Kullich that the suspects were removing security tags from the merchandise. On scene officers spoke with the two that were still inside the store. 90-Year-Old Driver Charged With Hit and Run The driver involved in the Dec. 8 hit and run on Park Street in Stoughton, which sent a teenage boy to the hospital, has been charged, the Stoughton Police announced in a release on the Department's Facebook page Wednesday morning. Harry Minassian, 90, of 433 Lincoln St. in Stoughton, is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury; failure to stay in marked lanes; leaving the scene of property damage; and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to the release. Norfolk County DA Rules Stoughton Teen's Shooting Death Accidental The September 29th shooting which killed Stoughton High senior David Wade, long understood to be an accident, has officially been ruled as such, the office of Norfolk Country District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey announced in a press release Friday afternoon. Wade, 17, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest at his Turnpike St. home. He was accidentally shot by his 21-year-old brother. State Police Make Several OUI Arrests Over Holiday Weekend Massachusetts State Police Troopers made 20 OUI arrests and issued almost 350 citations on area roadways this holiday weekend - the result of increased patrols on Routes 24 and 195 and a sobriety checkpoint in Canton, according to a press release from the MSP. The State Police deployed increased patrols on Routes 24 and 195 in southeastern Massachusetts, the evenings of Friday, Nov. 23 and Saturday, Nov. 24 as "part of the department’s ongoing efforts to curb impaired, distracted, and aggressive driving on those roads," the MSP stated in a press release. Woman Allegedly Sexually Assaulted at Knifepoint in Attleboro Local and state police are looking for a man they say kidnapped a woman at knifepoint and sexually assaulted her Tuesday afternoon in an Attleboro parking lot on Starkey Avenue. The 2012 George King Hockomock Cross Country Championships were held at Borderland State Park in Easton Saturday morning. Stoughton Man Turns to Attempted Murder After Argument Turns Violent A 42-year-old Stoughton man is charged with attempted murder after an argument turned violent early Sunday morning, according to Stoughton Police. Police were called to 16 Bell St. in Stoughton at 12:54 a.m. on Oct. 21 after "several calls [reported] a fight and people yelling/screaming," according to the Stoughton Police log. In addition to attempted murder, Michael Safranek, 42, of 29 Bell St. in Stoughton, is charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; and single counts of possession of a firearm while intoxicated and possession of more than one ounce of marijuana, according to the log.
