Yesterday, in President Obama's budget plan, he outlined an initiative to rein in the cost of college tuition, which he says is too high. His plan would not subsidize colleges that continue to raise the price of tuition. The federal government, he said, “can’t just keep on subsidizing skyrocketing tuition,’’ which has roughly doubled the pace of inflation in recent years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. To read more about Obama's plan in the Boston Globe, click here. Do you think something needs to be done about the rising price of college tuition?

We'll be asking Easton Patch readers a different question every weekday. Questions could range from local decisions made by officials, to state issues, to national politics and entertainment. Whatever it is, we want to know what EASTON thinks! A new bill is being considered in the state legislature that would bar children under 18 from getting body piercings without permission from a parent or legal guardian, according to a Boston Globe report. Now, former prosecuters are saying that identifying the woman, former Miss Iceland Anna Bjornsdottir, may put her in danger and prevent other witnesses from coming forward in similar situations. Should Whitey Bulger's tipster's identity have been revealed?

On the whole, we got it good here.
We need a little more gratitude out there. So many of us are so blessed and so fortunate and yet we – and that includes me – fail to take inventory of all that we have. This column and this place on the web have provided me a lot of enjoyment and fulfillment and reward. Right at the top of all those pluses is the community of discussion and reflection about how, for so many of us – whether we came from a family of modest means or not – there was tremendous levels of fun, blessings, and fortune in growing up in Easton. We are grateful. But I see and listen to so much complaining and moaning out there. Now, I don’t want to deprive anybody any of this activity – and no matter how sweet things are in our lives, it is tough not to do all …

Good riddens to them. I can get $90.00 worth of groceries at Market basket rather than $43.00 at Shaws. They are very expensive. The quality of their food is sub standard. I've bought three loaves of bread from the one in Stoughton, and two days later they are full of mold. God forbid you go to the deli and ask for something while the employees are talking about their personal lives. They are not…   more ›
