Craig Has No Plans to Sell Olympic Equipment

1908 USA goaltender Jim Craig says he has no problem with teammate Mike Eruzione auctioning off Olympic items.

Mike Eruzione is selling his Olympic equipment from the 1980s gold medal winning USA hockey team. Easton's Jim Craig, though, is keeping his, according to a report in the Boston Herald. He said he could never put the American flag he drapped around himself after winning the gold medal up for sale.  “I think at some point in time I might think of the Smithsonian,” Craig said. “Make a donation like that.” Craig also still has his goalie mask and jerseys from the Olympics. The former Oliver Ames and Boston University standout understands why his former teammates is putting his things on the block. “Well, I think he’s doing it for all the right reasons," said Craig in the Boston Herald.  Eruzione said he said he put the jersey in the auction …

What Do You Think? Walpole Baker Refuses to Accept EBT Cards at Braintree Farmers Market

Pie vendor refuses to accept EBT cards at farmers market. What do you think?

“I don’t think American taxpayers should be footing the bill for people’s pie purchases,” Andrea Taber, proprietor of the Ever So Humble Pie Co. in Walpole, told the Boston Herald. Taber sells her pies at the Braintree Farmers Market, yet refuses to accept tokens that the Farmers Market organizers sell to Electronic Benfits Transfer or EBT cardholders for use at the market. Farmers Market chairwoman Donna Ingemanson said that people on food stamps needed healthy choices and asked the Herald, "What better chance to buy healthy foods than at a farmers market?" Taber said buying fruits and vegetables with an EBT card is fine, but drew the line at using the card to purchase sweets, according to the Herald. Should food vendors be able to decide…

Sue Goodale told the Boston Herald she had a a “gut feeling” while dispatching at the Brockton Fire Department monday night that the person involved in a fatal accident may have been her son, Noah Goodale. “Because I knew it was him,” she told the Herald yesterday at her Easton home, bursting into tears. “I don’t know how I knew, but I knew. Question of the Day: Beating Romney

Who has the best chance to beat Romney?

After securing a narrow victory in Iowa and running away with a win in the New Hampshire primary last night, Mitt Romney is leading the pack in the republican primaries. South Carolina, though, will pose formidable test, according to the Boston Herald. The Romney victory (in New Hampshire) is going to last about one day because the new battleground in South Carolina is so different,” New York University politics professor Mitchell Moss told the Herald. “He should enjoy (the victory) because Gov. Romney is going to find out that South Carolina is not the same as New Hampshire. South Carolina enjoys confrontational politics. This is a state where the rules of the game are very different.” Others, however, feel it may be smooth sailing for …

Question of the Day

Question of the Day: Curt Schilling for Congress?

Would you vote for the former Red Sox player if he ran for Congress?

Yesterday, former Red Sox pitcher and GOP advocate Curt Schilling announced that he had no intention to run for Barney Frank's soon-to-be vacant congressional seat. According to the Boston Herald, Schilling's name was tossed around as a possible contender for the position. Schilling, however, shot down the idea. “If it was any other point in time, I would do it in a heartbeat,” Schilling to the Herald. “But it’s an elected position — it’s 365 days a year, nights, weekends. I can’t do it right now.” Barney Frank announced recently that he would not run for re-election for the seat he has occupied since 1981. The announcement came a short time after new Congressional districts placed the town of Easton in his district. Would you vote for …

Question of the Day

Question of the Day: Tougher Driving Regulations

Should the state enact tougher driving regulations?

We'll be asking Easton Patch readers a different question every weekday. Questions could range from local decisions made by officials, to state issues, to national politics and entertainment. Whatever it is, we want to know what EASTON thinks! To answer, use our comments section below. Driving records reveal that Patricia Neville-Colp - the 48-year-old Bridgewater woman who was arrested on nine charges including vehicular homicide and drunk driving, after she was involved in an accident that killed Easton residnent Maureen O'Brien-Ellis - had been involved in seven prior surchargeable accidents. Given the news, the Boston Herald reported Wednesday that state legislators considered tougher regulations for people with similar driving records…
