Check Out the Photo Inside the Foyer of Buddy's Union Villa
For today's column, I needed, of course, to do write one with a Christmas theme. To that end, I was playing with ideas yesterday, but still not sure where I was going. Readers of this column know that I usually, but not always, tie the column to Easton. Then again, stalwart Easton folk believe that it all ties back to Easton, one way or another. So, last night I was at Buddy's Union Villa, and I stopped in front of a photo attached to the wall in the foyer of the entrance on the Unionville Playground side of the highly popular family restaurant. When you walk in, it is to your right. It is a photo the essence of which is family and love and Christmas. The photo was taken about 20 years ago, on Christmas Eve, at the home of Edmund “…

It Could Be The Best Time Of The Year In These Parts
This being Labor Day, and it being a big transition in the year, I figured it appropriate to write as I did last year, another September and autumn cometh column. Yet, we have about three more weeks of summer, unless you don't know. Then again, soon enough the first frost will be upon us. Today sunset here is 7:14 p.m. On the final day of this month it will be 6:27 p.m. September is a great month, one of — as I frequently tout — warm days and cool nights. And it does seem that the planet is going through a warming phase, for whatever reason. Call me selfish, but if you live in New England, I don't know if this is all a bad thing. School is back in session, and at the secondary and post-secondary level, Easton has three schools: Oliver …

It's that time if year again. No, we're not talking about spring weather, daylight savings, or even tax season. We're talking about the time of year when you find your greenest sweater or T-shirt, cook some corned beef and cabage, bake some Irish soda bread, and indulge on a six pack of Guiness. It's time to go out and celebrate the St. Patrick's Day holiday. For this week's "Best of", we're asking where the hot spot in town will be next Saturday. Luckily in Easton, there is no shortage of places to celebrate. Here are a few. If we leave anything off the list, please let us know and we will certainly add it. Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday. We will announce the winner at noon Friday. Because this poll is not scientific…

A great casual place for food and fun.
You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Easton Patch will pick a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice: Buddy’s Union Villa Overview: If you are looking for a casual place to get good food and have a little fun, Buddy’s Union Villa is the right place. With a menu that offers plenty of choices at very reasonable prices, everyone will leave the Villa happy. Christine, a bartender at the Villa, gave me some insight into the restaurant, which has been under current ownership since June of 1975. Décor: Old school video games and a juke box are the highlight of the bar for some patrons. It is a casual …
