The Oliver Ames softball team downed Canton Wednesday afternoon at Parkview Elementary School, 10-5. With the win, OA advanced to .500 with a 3-3 record. The Bulldogs dropped to 1-7 overall.

New Deal Close For Nearby Casino, Governor Says Governor Deval Patrick and the Mashpee Womponoag Tribe reportedly close to finalizing an agreement for a $500 million casino 10 miles from Easton on the intersection of Route 140 and Route 24 in Taunton. Patrick said Thursday that his administration has reached an agreement-in-principle on a revised casino compact with the Mashpee Womponoag tribe, according to the Boston Herald. Oliver Ames Hockey Shuts Down Top-Seeded Canton, Advances to South Sectional Finals

Behind sophomore goalie Jimmy Tierney, the Tigers beat No. 1 Canton, 2-0. OA needs one more win to advance to the TD Garden.

The Oliver Ames hockey team is heading to the Massachusetts Div. 2 South Sectional Finals. The No. 4 Tigers skated their way to a 2-0 victory Wednesday night at the Gallo Arena in Bourne over the top-seeded Canton Bulldogs and their prolific attack. Thankfully for OA, sophomore Jimmy Tierney was in net. "If I was younger, I’d stand on my head too and show you what he did," OA coach Jim Sullivan said. "That’s all I can say – that’s what he did. He stood on his head. He kept us in that game, as usual." Despite out-shooting OA, 36-24, Canton was unable to get the puck past Tierney once. TD Bank Robbed for the Third Time in Three Months TD Bank at Roche Brother's Plaza was robbed Thursday for the third time in three months. Police Chief Allen Krajcik said police responded to a 911 call at approximately 5:30 Thursday night reporting a bank robbery. Shoplifting Leads to Arrest of Stoughton and Canton Residents On Saturday, Dec. 29 Norwood Police arrested 36-year-old Christin Quattrucci of Hayward Dr. in Stoughton and 49-year-old Ergin Abaz of Fairview Rd. in Canton. Norwood Police Dispatch received a call reporting that the two were observed shoplifting at the Norwood T.J. Maxx on Nahatan Street. It was reported to the responding officers Chris Flanagan and Jared Kullich that the suspects were removing security tags from the merchandise. On scene officers spoke with the two that were still inside the store. Oliver Ames girls' basketball will enter the Sue Rivard Tournament Thursday with an undefeated record. The Tigers took to the road Friday and dominated the Canton Bulldogs, 63-26. With the win, Oliver Ames improved to 3-0 and will take on Lake Region, Maine in the opening round of the Sue Rivard Tournament at Oliver Ames. Game time is set for 2 p.m. Thursday.

90-Year-Old Driver Charged With Hit and Run The driver involved in the Dec. 8 hit and run on Park Street in Stoughton, which sent a teenage boy to the hospital, has been charged, the Stoughton Police announced in a release on the Department's Facebook page Wednesday morning. Harry Minassian, 90, of 433 Lincoln St. in Stoughton, is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury; failure to stay in marked lanes; leaving the scene of property damage; and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to the release.
