Oliver Ames Football Falls in Heartbreaking Fashion to Canton

Tigers now 5-5 following overtime loss to Bulldogs.

In a game that featured several momentum shifts, the Canton High School football team got the last laugh Friday night against Oliver Ames for the second straight year. It took overtime this time to get it done, but Shane Nordgren’s 3-yard touchdown run in the extra period gave the Bulldogs their second victory of the season in a 36-30 triumph over the Tigers, who have dropped four straight after starting the season at 5-1. The win was a vindication for second year head coach Dave Bohane in a year where he’s seen his team drop in heartbreaking fashion to the two top teams in the Davenport Division: Sharon and Foxboro “Any of the small [Hockomock League] teams you can beat is an accomplishment,” said Bohane, whose team is now 2-6 overall and…

First Half Turnovers Cost OA Football in Loss to Canton

Tigers now face a must win against Stoughton following 27-21 loss to Canton.

OA Football Looks to Bounce Back on Senior Night Against Canton

Tigers return to Davenport play for senior night at Muscato Stadium Friday at 7 p.m.

With the final three games against Davenport Division opponents, the Oliver Ames Football team (4-3 overall, 2-3 Hockomock League, 1-0 Davenport) can turn its attention to the task of earning its first playoff appearance since 1969. That quest begins against Canton on senior night at Muscato Stadium Friday at 7 p.m. OA comes in having dropped two straight, including last week’s 27-12 loss to North Attleboro. In the two-game losing streak that includes the loss to Mansfield the week prior the Tigers have been outscored by a margin of 61-26. Canton, meanwhile, last played on Oct. 21 in a 35-21 loss at Franklin. The Bulldogs, coached by first year head coach Dave Bohane, have dropped five straight following their 2-0 start. Despite the record…
