Two Charged With Stealing from Carriage House Property

Two were charged with stealing metals from the site where the Carriage House building burned down late last year.

Two Brockton men were arrested by Easton Police Monday night after they allegedly stole metals from the property that used to house the Carriage House Restaurant. Rafael Rivera Herrera, 39, of Brockton and Juan Carlos Quinones, 38 of Brockton were charged with larceny over $250. Easton Police first received notice from a member of T&M Realty at 7:05 p.m., who informed police that he could hear parties loading up metals from behind the burned down property. A short time later, the arrests were made. Bail was set at $300 plus a $40 fee for Quinones and $500 plus a $40 fee for Rivera. AROUND TOWN: Former Carriage House Restaurant Sits as Rubble

Arrests made last night in West Bridgewater could be related to a string of arson fires.

The restaurant formerly known as the Carriage House and the Diplomat burned to the ground in November. Thursday, it sits as a pile of rubble overlooking Route 138. Fire Officials determined that the fire was intentionally set, and it has been linked to a string of arson-related fires in the area over the course of the fall and early winter. Just last night, two were arrested in West Bridgewater for setting fire to a commercial building, according to the Boston Globe. Easton Fire Chief: Carriage House Fire Intentionally Set

The Easton Fire Chief gave more details on a two-alarm fire at the former Carriage House restaurant Tuesday morning.

Easton Fire Chief Kevin Partridge said in a statement Tuesday night that the fire that set the former Carriage House restaurant ablaze was intentionally set. Partridge made the statement after an investigation conducted by himself, the State Fire Marshal and Easton Fire Captain Jeff Webster. "After a survey of the fire building and questioning of the initial caller, first in fire crews and the owners, the investigative team determined the fire to have been intentionally set," Partridge said. "The building did not have any electricity or natural gas service, both had been shut down numerous years ago."
