Members from the 22nd Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry set up camp at Ames Free Library Saturday. Reenactors participated in training excersises, showed off Civil War artifacts and firearms, and held a fashion show at Queset Gardens.

A shortened week is capped off with a busy weekend.
1. Monday at Easton Country Club, Play Fore Kids Family Golf Tournament will be held to benefit the Children's Museum in Easton. For more information on the event, visit the Children's Museum website. 2. Wednesday night at Immaculate Conception Church, there will be a Daughters of Isabella Pajama Party at 7 p.m. For more information on the event, click here. 3. Thursday night at Ames Free Library, there will be a Movie Night. The event starts at 6 p.m. and will be in the main library area. 4. It's What Makes America Exceptional
The terrible Civil War was almost over when, on March 4, 1865, Pres. Abraham Lincoln took the oath of office for the second time. Even the most sensitive and inquiring and reflective mind could not begin to estimate the death and suffering that the war brought to the land. Brother at the throat of brother. As I have written in this space, 47 men from Easton gave the ultimate sacrifice while in the service of the Union during the war. Lincoln would be dead in a little more than a month – a martyr for our republic. When he stood to deliver his second inaugural address, he looked toward reconciliation and healing – not toward vengeance and reprisal. Our president looked for our nation to be whole again. Make sure you all check yourself for ticks. Thus town is having an epidemic of Lyme and there are ticks everywhere... I've got it twice, my fiance too. Neighbors, my father in law, and countless others have got lyme. Its vicious and very hard to diagnose, and you don't have to vet a target rash to be infected.
