Submitted to Easton Patch: On Monday, April 29, Representative Claire D. Cronin (D-Brockton) and Senator Thomas P. Kennedy (D-Brockton) jointly filled an emergency bill to support victims of the Boston Marathon tragedy. The bill is quickly gaining bi-partisan support. The bill, HD 3615, "An Act Providing for Home Modifications and Moving Expenses for Certain Victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings" will allow a one-time payment of up to $10,000 for each of the fourteen individuals who lost either a limb, or the use of a limb, as a result of the bombings. The funds may be used to assist in making home modifications to make homes handicapped accessible. For those who do not own their homes or for those who find it simply more feasible to …

Cronin was tapped as the vice president in this year's newly elected Freshman Class.
Rep. Claire Cronin (D-Easton) was elected as the vice president of Beacon Hill's newly elected class of State Representatives. Cronin will join Rep. Josh Cutler of Duxbury, who was elected as the freshman class' president. Cronin, who grew up in Brockton and lives in Easton, represents Precincts 1-5 in Easton and a portion of Brockton. She won her seat last fall after defeating a crowded field of Democrats in the primary election and Easton Selectman Dan Murphy in the general election. “Growing up in Brockton instilled in me a belief in the value of public service," she said in a statement last week. Claire Cronin is officially the state representative for the majority of Easton. The Easton resident was sworn in last week as a member of the 188th Massachusetts State Legislature. She was accompanied by Easton students Kate McLaughlin, Molly Alexander, Sarah Alexander, Rory McLaughlin, Kristen Alexander, Darragh McLaughlin, and Conor McLaughln. Claire Cronin swept all precincts to defeat Republican Dan Murphy in the 11th Plymouth District.
Claire Cronin was elected Tuesday as the next State Representative in the 11th Plymouth District. Cronin (D-Easton) defeated Dan Murphy (R-Easton) by an unofficial margin of 11,355 to 6,607: 63 percent to 37 percent “This has been a very long campaign,” Cronin said. “We had a very tough primary and we’ve been going at it since February. On Day One, we started with an eye towards November. We have a great team – grassroots organization. We worked it the old fashioned way. To the Editor: I am writing to support Claire Cronin’s candidacy for State Representative in the 11th Plymouth District. I have known Claire for many years in both a social and professional context. We served together on the Frothingham Family Y Board where she demonstrated her ability to work harmoniously and effectively with colleagues in the achievement of common goals. During my tenure on the School Committee, I became aware of Claire’s strong support of our underlying priority to both sustain and continuously improve educational excellence for the children of Easton.
