Easton Board of Selectmen Chair Colleen Corona announced her support for Republican Dan Murphy.
Easton Board of Selectmen Chair Colleen Corona announced Wednesday that she is supporting fellow Selectman Dan Murphy in his run for State Representative in the 11th Plymouth District. Corona, a Democrat, has worked with Murphy, a Republican, for the past two years on the Board of Selectmen. “I have had the opportunity to serve with Dan Murphy on the Easton Board of Selectmen for the last 2 years," Corona said in a statement released by the Murphy campaign. "Dan is thoughtful and incredibly hard working, and he has been a strong leader. He has worked to help balance our town budget at a time when local aid has been cut significantly. Proud of nine years of accomplishments, the Board of Selectmen Chair is vying for another three years.
Colleen Corona is the longest tenured member on the Board of Selectmen - and she'd like to keep it that way. A board member since 2003, she is vying to keep her position for three more years when Easton residents cast their votes for two open seats on April 24. Four people are running for the two seats, including fellow incumbent Dan Murphy, Finance Committee member Pat Goodman, and newcomer Michael Maloney. In her nine years, she said there is a lot the board has accomplished, but there is still more work to do. "I still want to complete a lot of things in the community," she said. "I think I’ve gotten a lot done: working on the school project, then I helped working on the override, which helped give us the fiscal stability to get …

Officials say improvements to Main Street will tie into other area projects like Shovelshop development and a new sewer system.
The town of Easton will benefit from legislation passed last week that included $37.95 million in infrastructure funds for shovel-ready projects - $1 million of which would be dedicated to Easton's downtown. “This kind of investment in our towns and our infrastructure is how we can responsibly move Massachusetts forward economically,” State Senator Brian A. Joyce (D-Milton) said in a statement. “Today is a good day for the residents of Easton.” Town Administrator David Colton said the money would be used for improvements to main street, such as the burrial of wires, improvements to sidewalks and crosswalks, planting trees, and parking improvements. Colton said $75,000 of the town's capital budget, which was approved at Town Meeting last …

As valedictorian of the class of 1960 I can proudly claim that Oliver Ames High School provided a topnotch education and it still does today thanks to the foresight and leadership of Eastonites like Colleen Corona. Bill Anderson's comment rang true: Colleen Corona has the "character, ability, selflessness, and passion" to lead our beloved town in these challenging times. Many of us "townies" who …   more ›
