Gas company to conduct work in the area Friday.
Easton Police are warning motorists who plan to drive through the Five Corners intersection tomorrow. According to Police Chief Allen Krajcik, the company will be replacing a 12 inch gas pipe at the intersecting throughout the day. "Major traffic delays should be expected as there is also a separate reconstruction job also going on at that location," Krajcik said. Krajcik said motorists should seek an alternate route if they are passing through. Businesses, however, will remain open during construction.

Five Corners was shut down Thursday afternoon while responders worked on a gas leak. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Construction workers at Five Corners sprung a gas leak Thursday afternoon while digging in the area, shutting down the intersection to motorists throughout the afternoon and evening. "The Easton Police Department and Fire Department immediately responded to the scene and locked down the area to maintain public safety. Columbia Gas of Massachusetts was notified," Police Lieutenant Gary Sullivan said in a statement Thursday at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sullivan said the gas leak happened at approximately 2:05 p.m. when Pavao Construction Company severed a gas line. The intersection is currently under construction in an effort to realign Bay Road, allowing traffic to flow easier in the busy roadways. Police Chief Allen Krajcik said the crew …

The columnist is oozing with trepidation about the construction at Five Corners. So, what’s the problem? Let’s take a look.
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--Of cabbages--and kings--And why the sea is boiling hot--And whether pigs have wings." Excerpted from - The Walrus and The Carpenter by Lewis Carroll (from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1872) Good grief! They’re at it again! Why don’t these people leave me alone? It seems that there’s a full-blown conspiracy to ruin my summer. After enduring a tough winter weather-wise, which translates to treacherous road conditions driving-wise; the construction at Five Corners is in full swing. And just when I thought it was safe to go out on the streets again! Oh, I know what you’re thinking. It’s true. I’ve voiced my not-so-…

Why are we bothering to make such drastic changes to 5 corners? Seems like a big waste of money when money is scarce. My entire life, I have never said "boy I wish they would fix this intersection..". Does anyone really want this?   more ›
