Division Champion Oliver Ames Cross Country Team With Impressive Showing at Hockomock Championships

On Saturday they will compete in the Eastern Massachusetts Divisional Championships.

Submitted to Easton Patch: At the recent Hockomock League Cross Country Championships the Oliver Ames Girls and Boys Teams finished second.  That was a follow-up to the regular season where both teams went undefeated and captured the Davenport Division for the third year in a row.  On Saturday they will compete in the Eastern Massachusetts Divisional Championships.  The meet is the qualifier for the All State Championships the following week.  The Boys team is the two time defending Eastern Massachusetts Division  3 Champion.  The Oliver Ames Cross Country Program has qualified for the State Championships every year since 1995.  The following is an article about the program prepared for the Oliver Ames High School Newspaper by OA Harrier …

Borderland was taken over by the Hockomock League Cross Country Championships Saturday.

The 2012 George King Hockomock Cross Country Championships were held at Borderland State Park in Easton Saturday morning. The Oliver Ames boys team placed second and the Oliver Ames girls team placed second. Mansfield took top honors for the boys and Franklin took top honors for the girls. Hockomock League Cross Country Championships to Take Over Borderland Saturday

Oliver Ames will be one of the Hockomock League teams competing

Submitted to Patch: The 2012 George King Hockomock League Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27. The event will be hosted at Borderland State Park in Easton. There will be a series of four races. Over 700 student athletes are expected to compete and over 1000 spectators are expected to attend. The starting gun for the first race, the girls’ varsity championship, goes off at 9:30 a.m. The varsity boys’ championship is the second race of the day, followed by the junior varsity and freshman races. The meet includes the 12 teams of the Hockomock League. It will feature some of the top programs and individuals in the state. Mansfield High School is the defending boys’ champion. Oliver Ames Cross Country squared off against Sharon at Boarderland State Park. Both the boys and girls won their meets to remain undefeated and capture the Davenport Division of the Hockomock League for the third year in a row. The boys won, 26-31 and the girls won 20-43. Below are full results:

Oliver Ames Boys, Girls Cross Country Topples Milford

Both the boys and the girls improved to 3-0 at Borderland State Park Monday.

The Oliver Ames boys' and girls' cross country teams handily beat Milford Monday afternoon at Borderland State Park. Both improved to 3-0 with the league win. The boys won 19-42 and the girls won 15-50. For the boys, Dan Moverman (18:07), Britton Copley (18:07.1) and Bobby Kline (18:31) led the pack. For the girls, Jillian Mcauliffe (21:16), Megan Fitzgerald (21:23) and Maggie Harding (21:30) led the pack. Below is a full list of results:

Oliver Ames competed in a cross country jamboree at Borderland State Park Wednesday.

Easton was the epicenter of Hockomock League cross country Wednesday afternoon when 12 schools ascended on Borderland State Park to take place in the Hockomock League Jamboree. The day consisted of eight races. Each race was 1.67 miles in length. Oliver Ames placed second for both boys and girls. The scores are based on the cumulative times of teams in the varsity seeded races. Below are Oliver Ames Individual Results. Head Coach Neil Levine said Dan Moverman and Britton Copley, two juniors and the only remaining members of last years top seven boys, put on outsanding performances. Oliver Ames Cross Country Hits the Beach in Nantucket

Oliver Ames Tiger cross-country teams began the fall season on the shores of Nantucket

Submitted to Easton Patch: “Life is a collection of moments.”  Those were the words from Oliver Ames High School Cross Country Coach Neil Levine as he addressed his team on the first day of practice.  On Monday August 27th his squad experienced one of those moments, as they hit the beach for their 13th annual Nantucket trip. At 6 a.m., 120 student/athletes and chaperones rubbed the sleep from their eyes and boarded busses headed for Hyannis.  Alongside saltwater taffy stands, t-shirt shops and old fishing boats, they climbed up the gangway of the ferry to embark on their ocean crossing. “My first time on a boat was the Nantucket trip when I was a freshman” said OA number one runner Dan Moverman. Running Nostalgia

Some of My Thoughts on My Early Running Days, and a Look Back To the "Old Oliver Ames High School Cross Country Course"

  I’m about to get back on the road, and the paths, and the fields, and all other surfaces.  Yep, get back to running.    For about two years now, I have been restricting my aerobic activity to hard indoor biking – sort of like spinning.  I like it a lot, and go full bore on the bike.  But I am getting back to running – today.   I hope my left knee can hold out.  I wonder though if I have finally done it in.   There is only so much pounding and ligament damage a joint can take. Anyway... I started to get serious about running when I was a sophomore in high school.  When I was a freshman, I played football – and I would see the cross country runners striding past and I thought that must be something very tiring, running all those miles.  …

OA Represented Well at Foot Locker Northeast Cross Country Championships

Seven OA Cross Country runners participated.

Seven Oliver Ames cross country runners participated in the Foot Locker Northeast Championships Saturday at Sunken Meadow State Park in New York. OA's Drew Beck and Shannon Hickey ran in the seeded championship races. Beck came in 42nd overall in the boys' race with a time of 16:57.2. He was about a minute behind Hockomock rival Chistopher Allen of King Philip, who finished 9th with a time of 16:01.4. Brandon Sullivan of Foxborough came in just in front of Beck in 36th place with a time of 16:50.6. KP's Owen Gonser came in 57th with a time of 17:17. In the girls' race, Hickey's time of 20:28 was good for 53rd overall. In the girls' sophomore races, Jillian McAuliffe and Lindsey Foster both represented OA. McAuliffe fininshed 10th in the …

In 17th Year, Tiger Turkey Chase Continues to Grow

774 runners participated in the chief fundraiser for the Oliver Ames Cross Country team.

By Louis Stewart 774 runners, along with over one hundred volunteers came together Thanksgiving morning, for the 17th Annual, Bank of Easton, Tiger Turkey Chase.  The five mile road race began at the Olmstead/Richardson School.  The starting gun went off at 8:00 AM.  25 minutes and fifty seven seconds later, Oliver Ames High School, Assistant Cross Country Coach, Kyle Sousa, broke the tape at the finish line.   Georgetown University Sophomore and Past Oliver Ames all-time great,  Jenna Davidner was the first woman finisher in a time of 29:30.  For complete results, click here.
