The DJ Dream Fund began in memory of Easton native DJ Henry.
The DJ Dream Fund recently released a video documenting many of the youth athletes it has served in the past year and a half. The nonprofit organization provides financial resources for youth athletes. It was created in the name of Easton native DJ Henry, who was shot and killed by a New York Police officer in 2010. Henry was a former Oliver Ames High School football player and a football player at Pace University. "There's no better way to honor him than by giving kids the things that he treasured so deeply," DJ Henry's father Dan Henry says in the video. "We want to make sure that other children don't have that taken away from them because of a financial burden that isn't their fault. We're proud to be able to serve in his honor in this …

DJ Henry's mother reflects on the two year anniversary of her son's death
For Easton resident Angella Henry, things have not gotten easier in the two years since her son's death. The mother of DJ Henry relives it each and every day. "Some days have been worse as some information has been revealed about Oct. 17, 2010 and we find out how cruel-fully he was treated it actually hurts even more," she said. "I don’t think time makes things any easier." Henry will spend her day Wednesday mourning the loss of her son, who was shot and killed by police officer Aaron Hess on Oct. 17, 2010 while driving away from a bar in Pleasantville, N.Y. The two years since that night have included vigils, legal battles, widespread media attention, and differing accounts from a slew of witnesses. Pleasantville Police Officer Aaron …

Two $350 donations were made to the DJ Dream Fund and the National Resources Trust-Sheep Pasture. The MOMS Club selected the Sheep Pasture because of its impact to Easton families. The DJ Dream Fund was chosen because its mission is an inspiration - helping needy children continue to play the sports or recreations that they love. The MOMS Club also assisted the Children’s Museum in its fundraising campaign by presenting the Museum with an $800 donation to continue its efforts in educating and nurturing children. Incoming MOMS Club President Amelia Lorizio said, “We were honored to be able to present donations to three…

On the one year anniversary of DJ Henry's death, family and friends say every day is still difficult.
On the one-year anniversary of DJ Henry's death Monday, family and friends of slain Easton native and Oliver Ames High School graduate DJ Henry are determined to keep his memory alive and fight to "find the truth" about what happened one year ago. "I just don't want anyone to forget that our son was murdered," said DJ Henry's mother, Angella. "He was dragged from his car and left on the ground to die. That won't be forgotten." Angella was joined by the rest of her family and many friends and supporters Monday afternoon in front of the new Evolution Sports Facility on Washington Street where the outdoor field is being named in Henry's honor. Henry was shot and killed by Pleasantville Police Officer Aaron Hess outside of a bar in New York …

Only a few months old, the DJ Dream Fund has already grown and made an impact in the community.
In June, Easton resident Angella Henry met with Easton Recreation Department Director Ann Daley to give the department a $1,000 check to help provide children in Easton with funds to participate in Easton's summer recreation activities and programs. The donation, which was provided on behalf of the DJ Dream Fund, was just a snippet of what Dan and Angella Henry, the parents of 2007 Oliver Ames High School graduate DJ Henry, hope to see their newly formed charity provide. "The only gating factor, frankly, will be our ability to raise funds and manage logistically the scholarships," Dan Henry said. "We’re not going to start that way because we want to make sure to get a leg under us first, but we certainly hope to be all around Massachusetts…
