Easton Farmer's Market Returns to Depot Street This Spring

The Farmer's Market will return to the Depot Street "S" Curve in May.

After a winter indoors at Simpson Spring, the farmer's market will move back outside soon, the Town of Easton announced this week. The original Easton Farmer's Market will re-open May 21 at the "S" curve on Depot Street. Last year was the first time the market was at that location after moving from the Natural Resources Trust Sheep Pasture. Easton Eligible for Funding to Improve Depot Street

Efforts to improve Depot Street recently hit a milestone

Easton officials recently hit a milestone in their efforts to improve infrastructure on Depot Street, Town Administrator David Colton told Selectmen last week. According to Colton, the town was deemed "eligible" for a project from Newell Circle to Route 138. "We have received from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation approval of the eligibility of the project," he said. "So, this means the project is eligible for Federal Highway Funding in the amount of $5 million. It’s an important step in the process." The Town is currently in the process of designing the project with the use of Chapter 90 Funding. "We need to continue with the design and as long as Federal Highway Funding is available, the project will get funded," Colton said…

Depot Street Improvements Could Be Around Corner

Plans are in the works to improve Depot Street from Newell Circle to Route 138.

  With construction wrapping up at Five Corners and plans underway to revitalize Main Street, Easton DPW Director David Field is putting together plans for another roadway project on Depot Street that would connect Newell Circle to Route 138. The project, which would include bike paths, sidewalks and new turning lanes along Route 123 was originally slated as a State Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) in 1995, but was deactivated due to lack of advancement, Field told Selectmen earlier this month. Field was able to put the project back on the state's radar earlier this year, though, when he submitted a Project Notification Form in January and met with Department of Transportation officials in January. Pan Mass Challenge to Pass Through Easton Sunday

For the fifth straight year, riders will stop in Easton during the 32nd annual Pan Mass Challenge.

For the fifth straight year, the two-day Pan Mass Challenge will make its way through Easton via the Wellesley route Sunday morning. Starting from Bourne (the end point of the Wellesley route on Saturday), Sunday’s path will make stops at Wareham, Carver, Middleboro, Bridgewater and West Bridgewater before arriving in Easton -- passing through Purchase St., Depot St. (Route 123), Center St., Summer St., Bay Rd., Rockland St., and Massapoag Ave. -- before continuing on to Sharon en route to Babson College – the start and end point from Wellesley. Two alternate one-day routes – the 50-mile Wellesley to Wellesley loop and the 27-mile path from Wellesley to Sharon – will also pass through Easton on Sunday. Over 5,000 bicyclists (18 from Easton…
