Parkview Elementary was visited by a group of Oliver Ames students participating in a "Day of Kind-Ness." The event was set up in memory of classmate Devin Ness, who tragically passed away earlier this school year as a result of a brain aneurysm. "At Parkview School, we were most fortunate to have a large group of seniors visit this morning and spend three hours helping our young students learn," wrote Parkview Principal Chris Getchell in an email. "Each senior was assigned a Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade 1 or Grade 2 classroom. These seniors were most respectful, helpful and kind to our students. These seniors got right to work, knee-to-knee, eye-to-eye with our students. They read with them, they wrote with them, they ran math stations …

In honor of a fallen classmate, the Oliver Ames High School community is taking to the streets for a "Day of Kind-Ness" today. Oliver Ames students will be all over town today volunteering and performing community service throughout the entire morning. A cookout, donated by Coastal Foods, Roche Bros, and Honey Dew Donuts will follow. "From 9 - 12 they will be performing community service throughout the town, they will be at The Ames Free Library, all the schools, the Children's Museum, Militia Park, Easton Town Hall, the Fire and Police Stations, YMCA, J and M Pet Resort, and the Council on Aging," Oliver Ames teacher Cindy Hall said. Devin Ness Devin Ness, age 18, of North Easton, died unexpectedly on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. Devin was a senior at Oliver Ames High School and was a life long resident of Easton. In his free time he worked with his father at Viking Sheet Metal. He was a member of the Wolfeboro Snowmobile Club in Wolfeboro, NH where he was the only person from MA to receive the Jr. Snowmobiler of the year award from NHSA. Devin Ness, a senior at Oliver Ames High School, passed away suddenly last week. Below is his obituary from Legacy.com: Devin Ness, age 18, of North Easton, died unexpectedly on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. Born Thursday, Sept. 8, 1994 in Brockton he was the beloved son of Bradford J. and Kathleen R. (Tripp) Ness. Devin was a senior at Oliver Ames High School and was a life long resident of Easton. The Oliver Ames and Easton Community is dealing with the loss of one of it's own. Devin Ness, a senior at Oliver Ames High School and captain of the wrestling team, passed away suddenly Friday morning after suffering from a brain aneurysm. The news deeply saddened the community, especially those who knew him best. "Devin is one of the greatest kids I’ve ever met," Oliver Ames wrestling coach Adam Pomella said. When Oliver Ames coach Adam Pomella meets with his team Saturday, they'll all have a difficult decision to make about Sunday's upcoming Hockomock League wrestling tournament. "We’re going to let each kid individually decide what they want to do," Pomella said. "Everyone grieves in their own ways. For whoever wants to go, I’ll take them to the tournament. The Oliver Ames High School community is mourning the death of a student. Devin Ness, a senior at the high school, tragically died Friday morning. Ness, who was a captain for the Oliver Ames wrestling team, suddenly became sick last night, according to OA athletic director Bill Matthews. He was taken to the hospital where he passed away. "He did die of an aneurysm," Oliver Ames Principal Wes Paul said. "He was dog sitting for his cousins in West Bridgewater. He didn’t feel well and next thing you know he wasn’t doing well at all and they called an ambulance . He went to the hospital.
