Outgoing Richardson Principal Says Westwood Provided a Good Fit

Donna Tobin says she has been "very happy" in Easton and the decision to leave was "extremely difficult"

Outgoing H.H. Richardson Principal Donna Tobin said that she decided to move to Martha Jones Elementary in Westwood next fall for a number of reasons. Overall, though, the school was just a good fit for her. "I didn’t interview anywhere else," she said. "I didn’t send my resume to any place else. I’ve been very happy in Easton, but sometimes opportunities come along that peak your interest and that’s what happened." Above all else, Tobin said she liked the Grade K-5 model at the Westwood school. Before coming to Easton and working at the Grade 3-5 age level, Tobin was a teacher in a K-5 school in her hometown of Milton. Luke Carroll Named Interim Principal at Easton Middle School

The vice principal will replace John Giuggio on an interim basis. The process has started to replace H.H. Richardson Principal Donna Tobin.

Easton Superintendent Dr. Michael Green announced at Thursday night's School Committee meeting that Easton Middle School Vice Principal Luke Carroll will take over as the interim principal when John Giuggio retires at the end of this school year. "We’re very pleased and confident that Luke’s experience as assistant principal will help him," Green said. Green said he decided to hire a principal on an interim basis because of the short time frame given to conduct a search and hiring process. Giuggio officially announced his retirement at the April 5 School Committee meeting. Richardson Principal To Take Job in Westwood

Donna Tobin will move on to a Westwood Elementary School. She is the second principal to leave Easton's school system next year, along with Easton Middle School Principal John Giuggio.

Come Fall 2012, students at Martha Jones Elementary in Westwood will have a new principal at the helm - and she's coming from Easton. Selected among three finalists by Westwood School officials last week, Donna Tobin will fill the role once held by former principal Peggy Scott effective July 1. Her resignation as the H.H. Richardson principal will officially be announced at this Thursday's school committee meeting. "I'm extremely excited about coming to Westwood," Tobin told Patch. Richardson and Olmsted Begin Another Collaborative Year

Principals Gary Mazzolla and Donna Tobin begin their second year working together in the same building.

With the school-year starting this week, H.H. Richardson Principal Donna Tobin and F.L. Olmsted Principal Gary Mazzola are looking forward to another year with offices located just a few steps down the hall. "It provides more opportunities to have a colleague close by," Mazzola said. "It can be an isolating job, so it is nice to have another person that you can bounce ideas off or monitor issues with." Most importantly, both Tobin, who begins her second year, and Mazzolla, who begins his eighth year, agree that the two schools need to be on the same page academically.
