The school committee is appointing an exploratory committee to look into impacts of changing school start times.
The Easton School Committee decided Thursday night to appoint an exploratory committee to look into impacts of changing the start times for Easton Public Schools "As a school committee we decided it was time to formally take some steps to determine if changing the start time at any of the levels, particularly at the secondary level, makes sense," School Committee Chair Jane Martin said. The decision to form an exploratory committee comes after concerns that high-school aged children and adolescents may not getting enough sleep, which therefore affects their learning abilities. Currently, Oliver Ames High School (grades 9-12) and Easton Middle School (grades 6-8) have the earliest start times in the district, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and 7:35…

A few things to know in the week ahead
1. The Board of Selectmen will meet Monday night at 7 p.m. at Easton Town Offices. On the agenda, the Selectmen will discuss redistricting and an appointment for an alternate position on the Zoning Board of Appeals. 2. Easton Legion Post 7 baseball will play in its first playoff game Tuesday evening at Frothingham Park. Easton will be playing Acushnet in the first round of games. 3. The Fire House Study Committee will meet at 8:45 a.m. at Easton Town Offices. 4.
