LETTER: Maloney is a Leader

A letter in support of Michael Maloney.

To the Editor: Easton voters have a unique opportunity to elect a man who thinks "outside the box" and is for the people; not the establishment. Michael Maloney is a proven leader; he is not a follower. He will represent all Easton citizens, and shows total respect for our seniors and our Veterans. Mike's top priority is to assign a dedicated Veterans agent to represent all of our Veterans interests, and knows that our Veterans are the reason why we are able to enjoy the things we love and to enjoy life with family and friends without fear. Mike also wants to increase funding for Easton fire and police departments. He is also a strong advocate against the construction of the rail line; and will work in mitigating to insure intrinsic home …

The race for the Massachusetts Fourth Congressional District seat will take another step forward tonight as the candidates take part in a debate at Wellesley College. Brown and Warren: Is It Just Politics As Usual?

It’s been an interesting week in the U.S. Senate Race between Democrat Elizabeth Warren and incumbent Republican Scott Brown.

First it was revealed that Harvard University once touted Warren’s marginal Native American heritage as proof of their faculty’s diversity. That story was followed up with another revealing one that Warren had listed herself as a minority professor between 1986 and 1995 in the Association of American Law Schools desk book, a major reference for legal professors. On Tuesday it was revealed that Brown, who ran for office vowing to kill President Obama’s health care law (and who has since voted three times to repeal it) took advantage of a key provision in it: the provision that allows him to keep his elder daughter on his congressional health insurance plan. Meanwhile, both candidates downplayed their wealth this week as they revealed …

Question of the Day

Question of the Day: 4th Congressional Nominees [Poll]

In the early going, who do you support in the 4th Congressional District race?

Since long-time congressman Barney Frank (D-Newton) announced late last year that he would not run for re-election in the 4th Congressional District, candidates from both political parties have stepped forward to run for the seat. Most recently, Rachel Brown (D-North Quincy) has thrown her hat into the rink. The Democrat challenged Frank in the primaries during Frank's last run in 2010. Sean Bielat (R-Norfolk) is also giving it another run after he gave Frank a run for his money two years ago. Now a Norfolk resident, he looks to be the early front-runner on the Republican side. Bielat, however, is trailing Joseph Kennedy III (D-Brookline), according to a recent UMass-Lowell/Boston Herald poll. The son of Joseph Kennedy II and grandson of…

Question of the Day

Question of the Day: Scott Brown

How would you rate Scott Brown's performance in the Senate?

We'll be asking Easton Patch readers a different question every weekday at noon. Questions could range from local decisions made by officials, to state issues, to national politics and entertainment. Whatever it is, we want to know what EASTON thinks! To answer, use our comments section below. It wasn't that long ago that Scott Brown, a man from Wrentham who drove a truck, was an underdog in the race for the late Ted Kennedy's senate seat against Attorney General Martha Coakly. In a race that was watched by the entire country, Brown, a republican, stunned Coakley, the state and the nation, winning the election, 52 percent to 47 percent in a state known for electing democrats. Now, Brown prepares for a run for re-election. The Boston Globe …

The best thing ever happened to MA. Even in this commie state people occasionally get it right. The next sensible thing to do is to get rid off John Kerry.   more ›

Easton Republicans Cautiously Hopeful

Candidates met at the Republican Town Committee meeting Tuesday.

With 27 days before the election, local Republican candidates hope they can still catch the tailwinds of U. S. Sen. Scott Brown's upset, and unseat Democrat incumbents in Beacon Hill. But they are also nervous that the anti-incumbent fervor may be waning, and they are urging volunteers to work as hard as possible to get sympathetic voters to the polls Nov. 2. The candidates appeared before the Easton Republican Town Committee Tuesday, and they all said they have all been going door-to-door to seek residents' votes.  Canton selectman Bob Burr is running against state senator Brian Joyce (D-Milton), in a district that includes four Easton precincts, Easton resident Kristine Abrams is running for state representative against Brockton Democrat…
