Andrew signed a letter of intent Wednesday afternoon.
Oliver Ames girls' soccer standout Kendall Andrew is leaving behind plenty of great memories. Luckily, as she takes the next step in her soccer career, she'll be a short drive away. "Providence College was a perfect match academically and athletically," she said Wednesday. "It was close to home. I couldn’t see myself going too far from my family." Andrew signed a Letter of Intent to play soccer at Providence College Wednesday afternoon. She was surrounded by family (her mother and father Ann and Shawn and brother and sister Tim and Meghan), Oliver Ames coach Britt Sellmayer and Athletic Director Bill Matthews. The Friars play in the Big East and finished last season one win short of traveling to the conference tournament with a record of 8…

After scoring her 100th career goal, the girls' lax senior reflects on her career with the Tigers
When OA girls‘ lacrosse captain Kristina Simonson began her lacrosse career as a freshmen, it was simply because one of her friends convinced her to try out. In the four years since, Simonson has been the prototypical hard worker and it shows on the field. If anything, Simonson has been one of the go-to scorers for the Tigers. This season alone she has scored 58 goals and 11 assists. This offensive production led to Simonson getting her 100th goal earlier this year. “She’s always a hard worker. She’s probably the hardest worker on our team. Its great to see her progress and never give up during a game,” Simonson’s coach Kelly Downs said about her. While it was expected that Simonson was going to get her 100th goal in her final year as a …

The Tigers improved to 3-0 with a 1-0 victory over Stoughton
After defeating Stoughton 1-0 on the road Friday afternoon, the Oliver Ames girls’ soccer team still hasn’t surrendered a goal through three games this season. The Tigers (3-0) have outscored their opponents a combined 13-0 to start the season. Meanwhile Stoughton falls to 1-3. Against Stoughton, OA controlled the entire game territorially, outshot the Black Knights 18-2, didn’t allow the home team a corner kick or scoring threat and hit three posts and a crossbar. Still, the Black Knights managed to frustrate the Tigers, holding the team to just one goal in a low scoring contest. “Although we kept the play down in their end, Stoughton played a very good game and began to frustrate us,” said OA coach Britt Sellmayer. “We have to be ready…

OA girls' soccer beat Sharon, 3-0 Tuesday.
Leading 1-0 at halftime, the Oliver Ames varsity girls soccer team scored 30 seconds after the break to defeat host Sharon, 3-0, on Tuesday. The Tigers (2-0) struck first on Allison Brennan's corner from a Mallory Fisher pass with four minutes left in the first half. Michaela Simoneau made it 2-0 just 30 seconds into the second half, converting a pass from Elizabeth Murphy. Kristina Simonson scored the final goal at 35:06, on an Emily Grotz pass. "I think that first goal of the second half was kind of a back breaker for them (Sharon)," Oliver Ames head coach Britt Sellmayer said. "I think the Sharon team played really strong. They did a lot of great things. In fact, I think they were dominant in the air. They got to the ball better than we…
