Oliver Ames Wins Hockomock All Sports Award

The award is for achieving the highest average placement in the league across all sports this year.

For the second straight year, Oliver Ames has won the Hockomock All Sports Award, beating Franklin by just .04. The award is given to the school with the best average placement across all sports in the league for this school year. OA Athletic Director Bill Matthews also said in an email that online registration for fall sports is now open. Oliver Ames offers football, cheerleading, boys and girls soccer, field hockey, boys and girls cross country, golf and girls volleyball in the fall. 7th and 8th graders can also register online for soccer. Oliver Ames Girls' Basketball Topples Kelley-Rex Leading North Attleboro to Remain Undefeated

The Tigers are now the team to beat in the Hockomock League.

Whether you're in the Kelley-Rex "big school" division or the Davenport "small school" division, it is becoming clear that the Oliver Ames girls' basketball team is now the team to beat in the Hockomock League. The undefeated Davenport leading Tigers defeated Kelley-Rex leading North Attleboro, 59-48 Tuesday night at the Nixon Gymnasium to improve to 9-0. The Red Rocketeers lost their second game of the season (and their first Hockomock League game) to drop to 8-2 overall. "This was a bar fight in a good sense," Oliver Ames coach Elaine Clement-Holbrook said. Hockomock Football Recap: Division Champs Crowned; Teams Look Ahead to Thanksgiving

Turns out Thanksgiving football in the Hockomock League will just be for pride and bragging rights this year - both of the league's playoff berths were sewn up by the end of week 10. Mansfield (7-3), a perennial playoff threat, clinched the Hockomock League's Kelly-Rex (large schools) Division with a 28-21 win against visiting Franklin this past Saturday evening. Mansfield improved to 4-1 in the division, assuring the Hornets of at least a tie with King Philip, who is 3-1 heading into Thanksgiving. But, Mansfield has the head-to-head tiebreak, beating KP 46-33 on Oct. 20. Borderland was taken over by the Hockomock League Cross Country Championships Saturday.

The 2012 George King Hockomock Cross Country Championships were held at Borderland State Park in Easton Saturday morning. The Oliver Ames boys team placed second and the Oliver Ames girls team placed second. Mansfield took top honors for the boys and Franklin took top honors for the girls. Hockomock League Cross Country Championships to Take Over Borderland Saturday

Oliver Ames will be one of the Hockomock League teams competing

Submitted to Patch: The 2012 George King Hockomock League Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27. The event will be hosted at Borderland State Park in Easton. There will be a series of four races. Over 700 student athletes are expected to compete and over 1000 spectators are expected to attend. The starting gun for the first race, the girls’ varsity championship, goes off at 9:30 a.m. The varsity boys’ championship is the second race of the day, followed by the junior varsity and freshman races. The meet includes the 12 teams of the Hockomock League. It will feature some of the top programs and individuals in the state. Mansfield High School is the defending boys’ champion. Hockomock League Football Recap: Week 4 Upsets, a Last-Minute Comeback and More

Week 4 Recap Stoughton 25, Mansfield 6 Despite upsetting host Mansfield 8-0 last season, the pundits did not give Stoughton much of a chance in the rematch this year, but the Black Knight players didn't write their team off and came away with a dominating victory against Mansfield Friday in Stoughton. Led by a defense which forced four turnovers and shutdown a potent Mansfield offense and thanks to four rushing touchdowns from fullback Frankie Morris, Stoughton (4-0) jumped out to a 25-0 lead and beat the Hornets (2-2) in a rain-soaked affair. Hockomock League Football Recap: 8 Teams Win in Week 3; League Play Starts Week 4

A recap of Week 3 football action in the Hockomock League.

Through three weeks of the season, six teams are still undefeated - Stoughton, Oliver Ames and Sharon in the Davenport Division and King Philip, North Attleboro and Attleboro in the Kelly-Rex. In the Davenport, Oliver Ames has the highest scoring offense (100 points, through three weeks, including 86 in the last two) and Stoughton has the top defense (allowing just 20 points through three weeks, and just 7 in the last two). In the Kelly-Rex, Attleboro has the highest scoring offense (97 points in three games) and King Philip has the top defense (23 points allowed in three games). Hockomock League Football Recap: Nine Teams Still Unbeaten After Week 2

Hockomock League football teams continued their strong play in week 2, with nine of the league's 11 teams picking up wins. Eight teams have started the season 2-0 and one is 1-0. Week 3 schedule: Week 2 game recaps are below: Davenport Small Schools Division Stoughton 22, Taunton 0 In the only week 2 matchup between Hockomock League schools, Stoughton pitched a shutout on defense forcing six turnovers at Taunton Friday afternoon en route to a 22-0 win. Stoughton, now 2-0, recovered three fumbles (Aaron Mack and Joey Wilder), recorded three interceptions (Andrew Valle, Tim Porter and Malachi Baugh) and scored all 22 points off Taunton turnovers, including 16 in the fourth quarter. While the games don't count towards league standings, and have little impact on playoff eligibility, Hockomock League football teams got off to a hot start in week 1 of the high school football season, with all teams winning their respective openers with the exception of Taunton (Canton's game was suspended).
