Carroll Named Permanent Principal For Easton Middle School

The former assistant principal has served in the role on an interim basis since the retirement of John Giuggio.

Easton Middle School interim principal Luke Carroll will drop the "interim" from his title, Easton Superintendent Michael Green announced Thursday night. "Last spring we appointed Mr. Carroll as the interim principal of the middle school," Green told the School Committee. "Luke has certainly done an outstanding job and since then we have heard nothing but good things from staff and parents alike." Carroll will take over permanently for John Giuggio, who retired last year after 10 1/2 years in the Easton Public School system and over 40 years as an educator. Carroll served under Giuggio as the assistant principal at Easton Junior High School/Easton Middle School since 2004. "I think we’re very fortunate to have Luke," School Committee …

Giuggio Guided Easton Middle School Through Time of Transition

Retiring EMS principal will miss students, teachers and parents.

Over the last decade, the building on Columbus Avenue formerly known as Easton Junior High School has been a place where change is common. Walls have been knocked down and reconstructed, temporary trailers have come and gone, grade levels have changed, and faculty and staff members have transitioned from a Junior High School to a Middle School curriculum and mindset. One constant, though, has been the principal. John Giuggio, who took over as Easton Junior High School Principal in 2002, has bared witness and facilitated more change to his school than most administrators could comprehend. Beginning next year, though, the school will be with a new leader for the first time in over a decade. Giuggio announced his retirement earlier this year …

Luke Carroll Named Interim Principal at Easton Middle School

The vice principal will replace John Giuggio on an interim basis. The process has started to replace H.H. Richardson Principal Donna Tobin.

Easton Superintendent Dr. Michael Green announced at Thursday night's School Committee meeting that Easton Middle School Vice Principal Luke Carroll will take over as the interim principal when John Giuggio retires at the end of this school year. "We’re very pleased and confident that Luke’s experience as assistant principal will help him," Green said. Green said he decided to hire a principal on an interim basis because of the short time frame given to conduct a search and hiring process. Giuggio officially announced his retirement at the April 5 School Committee meeting. "The fact of the timing of the year, we felt that rather than rush through a search, we were concerned with quality of applicants we would be able to attract," Green …

Richardson Principal To Take Job in Westwood

Donna Tobin will move on to a Westwood Elementary School. She is the second principal to leave Easton's school system next year, along with Easton Middle School Principal John Giuggio.

Come Fall 2012, students at Martha Jones Elementary in Westwood will have a new principal at the helm - and she's coming from Easton. Selected among three finalists by Westwood School officials last week, Donna Tobin will fill the role once held by former principal Peggy Scott effective July 1. Her resignation as the H.H. Richardson principal will officially be announced at this Thursday's school committee meeting. "I'm extremely excited about coming to Westwood," Tobin told Patch. "I'm looking forward to working with the administrative team, the teachers, the students and the parents." Tobin has been the principal for Richardson for the past two years. Previously, she was an elementary teacher in Milton, according to a letter Westwood …

Easton Middle School: 'An Incredibly Positive Atmosphere'

A large sixth grade highlights the beginning of the '11-'12 academic year at EMS

When Easton Middle School Principal John Giuggio addressed a group of fresh-faced sixth graders Thursday at their orientation, he was well-aware of just how many students he was talking to. "We have the largest sixth grade in the building that we’ve had in a long time," he said. "345 kids in grade six. That’s quite a large number. We have a total of 947 students in the school." While the number seems large, Giuggio said he is well adapted to dealing with sixth grade students and teachers. The school is now in it's third year of being a "middle school" as opposed to "junior high." Now in his tenth year as principal, he spent the first seven years dealing with older students. "I’d say we’ve made the transition," he said. "This is our third …
