Letter to the Editor: Easton Would Benefit From Fulginiti's Character and Drive

A letter in support of Dottie Fulginiti

To the Editor: I am writing to enthusiastically support Dorothy Fulginiti (Dottie) in her bid for a seat on the Easton Board of Selectmen.  My first opportunity to know Dottie came several years ago as we patiently waited for our young daughters to finish their dance lessons in the basement of Miss Eileen’s house on Bay Road—a very low budget and homey place to introduce our children to tap, ballet, and jazz. It has always amazed me what you can learn about a person in such tight quarters. As we waited for our daughters, with other children in tow, I learned quite a bit.  There were many issues facing Easton at the time, most critical among them, the continued development of open space, Easton’s fiscal situation, and quality of life issues…

Letter to the Editor: Fulginiti and Smith Right For the Job

A letter in support of Dottie Fulginiti and Dan Smith

Letter to the Editor: A few years ago it appeared that the Turner Brothers would have control of the Shovel Shops and build 180 units totally out of character with the area. I then started hearing about something called 40B and someone named Dottie Fulginiti. Knew nothing about either one, researched the proposal from the Turner's and started to read Dottie's site, responsiblegrowthforeaston.org. What a turnaround for me. Dottie basically created a space to educate all of us on what a 40B would mean for us and the impact it would create. She did all of this research on her own and shared this enthustically with us all. Dottie basically became an expert in this field and spoke with the Massachusetts Senate. This is a woman who truly cares …

Letter to the Editor: Vote Fulginiti and Smith on April 30

A letter to the editor in support of Dottie Fulginiti and Dan Smith

To the Editor: I am writing in support of Dottie Fulginiti and Dan Smith, candidates for Easton’s Board of Selectmen in the upcoming election on April 30th. Both Dottie and Dan have made outstanding and consistent contributions to our community. Dottie was an active participant in the rescue and preservation of the Shovel Shop. Moreover, she created a website, responsiblegrowthforeaston.com, to keep the public informed.  She worked diligently with others to reform the state’s 40B housing law to return planning and zoning control to the towns.  As an active member of the Easton Lions Club and the Easton Grange, Dottie consistently exhibits her passion to help and serve others and to promote historical preservation and conservation of open …

Funny thing about FACTS many are only a point in time. Everyone knows that the Turners had their plan to develop Shovel Shops their way, and guess what, they could because it was THEIR PROPERTY. It is NOT the state's 40B law alone that would have forced Easton to let the Turners develop it was the cities and towns across Massachusetts who over the past 10 - 15 have blatantly ignored the …   more ›

Letter to the Editor: Fulginiti 'Not Someone Who Would Let You Down'

A letter to the editor in support of Dottie Fulginiti

To the Editor, As a resident of North Easton I am writing this letter to endorse Dottie Fulginiti  for a position on the Board of Selectmen for the town of Easton. I have had the pleasure of knowing Dottie for several years as she was recommended to me to help build a website for the Charity Guild of Brockton. The Charity Guild is a food pantry and thrift store in Brockton. Upon my first meeting with her I knew immediately that she was a woman of integrity and most knowledgeable in the world of technology. We spent several hours together working on this project. When it was finished, we knew we had a remarkable means for a social medium for our Charity Guild. We then set our sights on another project which was a powerpoint. She came into …

Letter to the Editor: Get Involved With HUGS II

Volunteering is important.

To the Editor: Making a difference in a community is one of the true benefits of volunteering. To quote Martin Luther King, “Everybody can be great because everybody can serve”. I became involved in HUGS II (Help Us Get Safe) of Easton in 1999, when I was in the midst of my doctoral work. My interest was (and still is) advocacy and helping those who may not be able to speak or do for themselves. Being a nurse, advocacy is central to the role. As part of my coursework, I chose to do a concept analysis on advocacy. I attended a HUGS II meeting at OAHS one winter evening to view advocacy in action. Later on, I interviewed the President of HUGS II, Denise Papagno and discovered the services offered to the community and what these volunteer …

Letter to the Editor: Former Easton Principal Supports Cronin

A letter to the editor from former Moreau Hall Principal Robert Smith.

To the Editor: I have known Claire Cronin and her family for over 35 years and I am pleased to give her my full support in the Nov. 6 Election.Claire will make an outstanding State Representative and the residents of the 11th Plymouth District will find her to be thoughtful, selfless, caring, articulate, sensitive to the needs of all constituents, and an extremely hard worker. She will listen to your concerns and questions and work hard to find solutions. Claire will focus on local and state issues and initiatives and will always do what is best for the citizens of Massachusetts. I am most drawn to her leadership skills and advocacy for children and those who can not fend for themselves. This is clearly demonstrated by her endorsement and …

Letter to the Editor: Cronin is Small Business Advocate

A letter to the editor in support of Claire Cronin

To the Editor: We wanted to take a minute to tell our fellow residents that we believe Claire Cronin is the best candidate for State Representative in our district. We are in the process of opening a new breakfast and lunch café, The Farmer’s Daughter on Main Street in North Easton. The decision to undertake this and make the leap of faith has been a bit easier because of the counsel and support of Claire Cronin. Claire understands the risks faced by small business owners as she and her husband Ray have been starting, managing and growing small businesses for many years. Her understanding and support as a sounding board added to our great desire to start The Farmer’s Daughter. We are committed to making this a spot where friends, families …

Letter to the Editor: Murphy Can Be Trusted to Improve Economy

A Letter to the Editor regarding the 11th Plymouth District State Rep race.

To the Editor: Our next State Representative must have the credentials to improve our economic outlook and grow jobs. There is only one candidate who we can trust to increase employment. That’s accountant and Selectman Dan Murphy. As an Easton based business owner I have seen the issues first hand, Mr. Murphy  is the clear choice for me! Dan is a tax accountant for small business, he understands the issues confronting and holding back the business community from creating jobs.  He will use his expertise to make a difference.  He is the only candidate with a plan. Sincerely, William Adams   If you would like to write a letter to the editor on this subject or any subject, email Patrick.Maguire@Patch.com

Letter to the Editor: Easton Selectman Supports Mark Linde

Todd Gornstein Throws His Support Behind Mark Linde

Dear Editor, I write this letter today in support of a person whom I feel would be an asset to Easton, Mark Linde. Serving as an elected official myself I can relate to the necessary experience it takes both in life and public service for an individual to be Easton's next State Representative. Mark has leadership experience, as the current Chairman of the Southeastern School Committee which serves Easton. As an elected official himself, Mark knows how to be fiscally responsible by carefully overseeing budgets at Southeastern for the past three and a half years. The assessments to Easton have not increased and the school is being re-built at no additional cost to Easton residents, this alone is a great achievement. Local, State and Federal …

Letter to the Editor: Vote on Thursday, Sept. 6

The chair of the Democratic Town Committee Urges residents to vote.

I have had the privilege of working on several democratic campaigns in the Town of Easton over the past few months.  Recently, I have realized, as I speak with voters in town, that the Commonwealth has not done a very good job of communicating the fact that there is a Primary Election on Thursday, September 6, 2012.  In fact, there are three very significant and competitive races in the Democratic Primary that may well impact the residents of Easton. In the new Congressional District Four Campaign, there are three candidates seeking the Democratic nomination to advance to the November 6th general election.  These candidates include Joseph Kennedy, III, Rachel Brown and Herb Robinson.  This district is currently represented by Barney Frank …
