Easton had a turnout of 2,442 voters, or 16 percent of registered voters. Voters also picked Sean Bielat and Joseph Kennedy III.
The next state representative from the 11th Plymouth District will come from Easton. Easton resident Claire Cronin won the Democratic nomination Thursday night in four-way field that included Brockton City Councilors Jass Stewart and Robert Sullivan and Southeastern Regional School Committee Chair Mark Linde. Cronin will face fellow Easton resident Dan Murphy, who ran unopposed Thursday, in the general election. "I’m very grateful that we had the result we did today and we’re just going to continue in the same path that we have all along," Cronin said. "We started with an eye towards November and we continue on with that plan." In a district that includes five Easton precincts and seven Brockton wards, Cronin won Easton with 60 percent of …

Todd Gornstein Throws His Support Behind Mark Linde

Tuesday, September 4, 2012
Dear Editor, I write this letter today in support of a person whom I feel would be an asset to Easton, Mark Linde. Serving as an elected official myself I can relate to the necessary experience it takes both in life and public service for an individual to be Easton's next State Representative. Mark has leadership experience, as the current Chairman of the Southeastern School Committee which serves Easton. As an elected official himself, Mark knows how to be fiscally responsible by carefully overseeing budgets at Southeastern for the past three and a half years. The assessments to Easton have not increased and the school is being re-built at no additional cost to Easton residents, this alone is a great achievement. Local, State and Federal …

The Brockton City Councilor will be on a Democratic Primary ballot Thursday, Sept. 6
Last year at this time, Brockton City Councilor At-Large Robert Sullivan didn't know he'd be spending his summer knocking on doors in Easton and on the west side of Brockton. But, around the same time last winter, two unanticipated events occurred. Sullivan, a Brockton resident who had lived in the 9th Plymouth District (and had lost a State Rep Democratic Primary in that District in 2008 by 13 votes), found that his house had been redistricted to the 11th Plymouth. And, the State Rep representing the 11th Plymouth, Geraldine Creedon (D-Brockton) announced that she would not run, thus leaving an open seat on Beacon Hill. "I didn’t expect where I live to be taken out of the 9th Plymouth and put into the 11th Plymouth district," he said. "…

Mark Linde (D-Brockton) puts emphasis on education, jobs, taxes, public safety and senior citizens in race for State Rep in 11th Plymouth District.
It's no surprise that if Mark Linde is elected State Representative, he wants to set up a district office on the Easton-Brockton town line. After all, that's where he feels most at home. Linde was born at Goddard Hospital in Stoughton, graduated from Brockton High in 1979 and continues to work in the area today. He is the General Manager of Brockton Community Access Television, the Chair of the Southeastern Regional School Committee and a teacher at Massasoit Community College in Brockton. Giving back to the community where he grew up, lives, and works is a key reason behind his campaign for State Representative in the 11th Plymouth District, made up of Precincts 1-5 in Easton and all of Ward 1, Ward 3-D, Ward 7-C and 7-D in Brockton. "I …

Southeastern Regional hosts first debate for the race
Southeastern Regional students got a true taste of politics Tuesday by taking part in the first debate forum for the 11th Plymouth District seat, which includes sections of Easton and Brockton. Principal David Wheeler moderated the debate, and his students asked the questions, given in advance to all four candidates. The candidates included Easton resident and Brockton attorney Claire Cronin, Mark Linde of Brockton, general manager of Brockton Community Access television and chairman of the Southeastern Regional School Committee, and two Brockton City Councilors-at-Large: Jass Stewart, a realtor and business owner, and Robert Sullivan, an attorney who serves as Town Counsel for Randolph. All of them are Democrats and are vying for the …
