The Easton teen who was arrested for allegedly killing his mother had his charges upgraded to murder.
17-year-old Easton resident and former Southeastern Regional student Matthew Worster is awaiting a new arraignment date after his charges were upgraded last week from "armed assault with intent to murder" to "murder." Worster allegedly shot and killed his mother, Beth Spartichino, in the back earlier this month before burying her in a 4-foot grave in the back yard of her Union Street home. The body was brought to a lab in Boston where an autopsy was conducted. In Worster's original arraignment on May 5, Bristol County Prosecutor Bill McCauley said a foot print was found near Spartichino's grave that matched Worster's shoe. The slain Easton mother was remembered by friends in Weymouth and on her obituary page Sunday.
"Beth would want to be most known for her love for her children," reads Beth Spartichino's obituary on the Kane Funeral Home website. The Easton mother of three was allegedly shot and killed by her son, Matthew Worster, less than a week before Mother's Day and buried in her Union Street back yard. Family and friends are describing Spartichino as "a loving mom" and "a healer." Members of Spartichino's zumba studio, Zass Fitness in South Weymouth gathered Wednesday morning for a special class that honored Spartichino's life and raised money to provide flowers …

Mathew Worster pleaded not guilty Thursday afternoon after police found his mother buried in her backyard.
Matthew Worster, 17, was arraigned for armed assault with intent to murder Thursday afternoon and is being held on $500,000 cash bail. The arraignment came after a nearly 24-hour search and excavation of the Easton family's backyard on 7 Union St. that resulted in the finding of the body of Worster's mother, Beth Spartachino, buried in a four feet deep, three by nine feet grave. According to a Bristol County Prosecutor Bill McCauley, she had what appeared to be gun wounds in her back and the grave appeared to have been dug previously. The body was transported to a lab in Boston for further investigation. McCauley said he believes gun shot wounds to the back of the body will be confirmed and Worster's charges will be changed from "intent …

trying to help his brothers???? He may have been a 'good kid' to other 17 year old emotionally immature people, but in society, he is a bad kid. He killed his mother. He had one year left to emancipation if he didn't want to see her. He was a mess - druggie, school drop out. His mother was trying, and his father wasn't. He was making the situation worse. Matt should be charged as an adult for 1st…   more ›
