Let Us Always Remember and Respect this Truth

  There are truths, important and vital lessons that can never be emphasized enough.    One of those truths is encapsulated beautifully, succinctly – almost perfectly – in a speech that former U.S. Pres. Teddy Roosevelt delivered at the Sorbonne in Paris on April 23, 1910.   Citizenship In A Republic is the name of the speech, and here the words within it that speak to an eternal truth and ever vitally important lesson:  It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. AAAAGGGGHHH!!

No Joy in Mudville ... I Mean New England ... and in Easton

  AAAAGGGGHHH!! Eli @$%#^*% Manning Mario #@%^&(% Mannigham. Oh, man that was tough.   Wes Welker?  You never not make that catch.   Gronk had a shot at the Hail Mary.  I knew well a very successful high school football coach who told me that in games he coached in which is team was blown out, he often slept well.   Weird, huh?   He said in those instances he could look back and be fairly confident that nothing different he could have done could have resulted in victory. But games he coached in which his team lost a close one – when it came down to one play or two – well, those were the games that kept him up at night.  I just know that this game and the way it played out will at least lightly haunt many of us.   If only that.  Or if only …

Oliver Ames football coach Jim Artz takes a look at Super Bowl XLVI between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.

  While Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots are gearing up for Super Bowl XLVI against the New York Giants, Oliver Ames High School head football coach Jim Artz is coming off a Super Bowl appearance of his own. Last fall, Artz led the Tigers to their first league championship since 1968 and the program's first ever appearance in an MIAA Super Bowl. While he is waiting to begin his 7th year at the helm for OA, we asked him to break down this year's NFL Super Bowl. Here are Coach Artz's five keys to the game: Key No. 1: Rob Gronkowski. If Easton were in the Super Bowl, what would be the wager?

  No bets were wagered late last fall when the Oliver Ames Tigers took on Concord-Carlisle in the Division 3 football Super Bowl. But if the town did have to wager something what would it be? Yesterday, in a bet that the Patriots would win the Super Bowl over the New York Giants, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino wagered a free trip to Boston, complete with dinners at the best restaurants and a tour of the Samuel Adams Brewery. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg wagered a similar trip to New York. Today, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick wagered 46 Centerville Pies, Legal Sea Foods clam chowder and 46 cases of all natural chips from Food Should Taste Good. So, what proud commodity would Easton wager? Perhaps a bar-style pizza from Buddy's Union …

VIDEO: 15,000 Fans Rally to Send Patriots off to Super Bowl XLVI

The New England Patriots held a Super Bowl XLVI rally inside Gillette Stadium Sunday before departing for Indianapolis, where they will play the New York Giants on Feb. 5.

  FOXBOROUGH – Roughly 15,000 fans from all over New England gathered inside Gillette Stadium Sunday to send the Patriots off to Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI. Patriots owner Robert Kraft and the New England Patriots organization made the event free to the public and gave players and coaches an opportunity to address Patriots Nation before leaving town on "business." Perhaps different from other Super Bowl trips in recent years – five in the last 11 years to be exact – the Patriots appear to have a renewed sense of focus and are determined to do whatever necessary to win their next game. Tim Tebow, God, Faith, And Belief

The Patriots Face Off Against The "Mile High Messiah" and The Denver Broncos On Sunday

  So here we go – this coming Sunday, the New England Patriots visit Sports Authority Field at Mile High and the altar of Tim Tebow.  I’ve been a bit conflicted on the Tim Tebow thing.  You know, the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos, who is a non-prototype NFL quarterback, and yet is managing to be the signal caller as the Broncos have been on a nice roll of victories.  It you aren’t much of a sports fan, or you have been abroad for a couple months, what is generating considerable interest, indeed very mild hysteria, are a couple primary elements in the saga:  1.
