Oliver Ames Football and Cheerleading Recognizes its Own at Banquet

Tigers gave out awards for last year and named captains for next year

From the Oliver Ames Football Boosters: Over 250 players, coaches, cheerleaders, family members and guests attended the 2013 OA High School Football and Cheerleading Banquet Sunday Night at Oliver Ames High School. After a delicious meal provided by Georgio’s of Brockton, the ceremony was kicked off by Booster President Bill Gagliardi. First up to the podium was Coach Jim Artz with a well-choreographed music and slide show of key plays during the year.  Next was the OA Cheerleading group. They thanked the boosters and other guests and sponsors for their support during the year and especially for assisting in fundraising for their trip to Florida where they performed in the Russell Athletic Citrus bowl. Oliver Ames Cheer Squad Rises to New Heights

For the first time in program history, the OA cheerleaders were invited to cheer at a college bowl game.

Success seems to be contagious at Muscato Stadium on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. After a historic football season in 2011 that ended in the program's first ever appearance in a Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium, the OA football squad isn't the only program making their mark on school history. With every snap, play call and touchdown; the OA cheerleaders have been on the sideline showing their Tiger pride. And, this December, they'll be the first group in school history to cheer at a college bowl game. "We’ve been working hard," senior captain Jacquey Gover said.
