Oliver Ames Girls' Basketball Standout Asia Mitchell to Play at UMass-Lowell

Surrounded by her family, Mitchell signed a letter of intent Monday.

Surrounded by her entire family, Oliver Ames girls' basketball standout Asia Mitchell signed a letter of intent Monday to play basketball next year for UMass Lowell. Mitchell, who has started at point guard for OA since her freshman year, will look to remain a leader on and off the court for the River Hawks next season. "It’s an awesome school," she said. "The coaching staff is amazing and it’s a great educational experience...My role as a freshman will be to have some leadership skills and being a captain of varsity over the past few years has definitely helped developed those qualities and it will help me there as well." The OA boys and girls track teams beat Sharon Tuesday afternoon.

The Oliver Ames boys' and girls' track teams swept Sharon Tuesday afternoon at Muscato Stadium. The boys beat Sharon, 81-55 and the girls won 73-58. OA track and field will be in action again at the state coaches meet on Saturday.

The Warriors earned a Hockomock League Davenport Division win over visiting Oliver Ames Monday.

  The Foxborough High School boys' lacrosse team defeated Oliver Ames, 8-2, Monday afternoon at State Hospital Field. The Warriors improve to 6-5 overall and 6-2 in the Davenport Division while OA fell to 2-11 overall and 0-9 in the Hock. Foxborough returns to the field on Wednesday when the Warriors host rival Mansfield at 3:30 p.m. OA also returns to action Wednesday when the Tigers host Canton at 3:30 p.m.

Oliver Ames girls' lacrosse fell to Foxborough Monday afternoon, 13-4 at Muscato Stadium. With the loss, OA fell to 3-10. Foxborough improved to 10-1.

The Oliver Ames softball team downed Canton Wednesday afternoon at Parkview Elementary School, 10-5. With the win, OA advanced to .500 with a 3-3 record. The Bulldogs dropped to 1-7 overall.

OA Tigers lacrosse fell to North Attleboro Monday afternoon.

The Oliver Ames boys' lacrosse team took on North Attleboro Monday afternoon at Muscato Stadium, falling to the Red Rocketeers, 6-5. Freshman Matt Gilson had two goals, and senior captain Ryan Chase had two goals and Chandler McLaughlin had one goal.  Mike Carroll continued to play well in the goal with 15 saves.
