Easton Police made a drunk driving arrest at the corner of Washington and Depot Street.
A Brockton man was arrested for drunk driving early Sunday morning after being pulled over at the corner of Washington and Depot Street. Avelino Lopes Debarros, 47, of 11 Wellington Place, Brockton was arrested for operating under the influence at approximately 1:17 a.m. Police were advised when a caller reported Debarros heading northbound on Turnpike Street, crossing over Foundry Street. The caller said the vehicle was going in and out of lanes. Police transported one passenger home and later released Debarros on $200 bail. Steven Giouard of Easton was arrested last week.
An Easton man was arrested last week for receiving stolen property, breaking and entering a dwelling home in the daytime and unarmed assault while committing a felony, Police Chief Allen Krajcik said this week. Steven Giouard, 25, of 199 Depot Street was taken into custody after he allegedly broke into a neighbor's house, Krajcik said. The break-in occurred Tuesday, July 24 on Depot Street. Police responded at approximately 6:30 p.m. after a resident arrived home to allegedly find Giouard in the house. "The homeowners had left their home for a short time and when the returned Girouard was inside and had stolen several items," Krajcik said. At approximately 9:50 a.m. Friday, the Easton Fire Department responded to the area of Center School for an outside odor of smoke. Two engines checked the area and found smoke from an agricultural permit at Flynn's Family Farm. Residential Fire Alarm Tuesday Easton Fire Officials responded to a call on Sharron Drive Tuesday at approximately 9:15 p.m. for a fire alarm sounding. Two engines and a ladder responded. Upon arrival, firefighters found the smell of smoke and a light haze in the building. Crews checked the home and found a problem with an air conditioner motor. A 1500 pound steer leads off the Easton Police and Fire Log.
Police received a call Sunday night at approximately 7:30 p.m. reporting a 1500 pound steer in the caller's yard on Bay Road. While an officer was attempting to locate the steer with the owner, an additional call reported seeing a calf at Blue View Farm in Norton. The Norton Police Department and Fairland Cranberry Farm Security were notified. Girl Lies in Middle of Road on Chestnut Street At approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported a girl laying in the middle of the road on Chestnut Street. A Purchase Street family called police Monday, July 9, at approximately 7:45 p.m. to report a breaking and entering. The family, which had been away, discovered that the bedroom had been ransacked and items were missing. Accident on Randall Street Last Week Police received multiple calls Monday, July 9, at approximately 9 p.m. regarding a car vs. pole motor vehicle accident on Randall Street. One car struck a poll and a white box truck reportedly fled the scene. The truck was later located behind Wendy's. The Easton Police Department and Easton Fire Department are restoring personel lost in FY12, but there is still more work to be done.
With the economy on an apparent uptick and town revenue from taxation, state aid and local receipts on the rise, Easton's Police and Fire chiefs are happy to be putting restoring some personnel lost during Fiscal Year 2012. Their budgets, however, are still not where they would like them to eventually be. Both chiefs said there is work to be done in the coming years to add boots to the ground. Police Chief Allen Krajcik said that since 2009, the Police Department is down four officers. An increase in one officer and two part-time public safety dispatchers in FY13 will yield help this year, however. He said that it is important to move slowly while restoring staff so that additional layoffs don't occur. "I think its better for us to be a …

A Brockton man was arrested for trespassing Sunday afternoon.
Easton Police assisted State Police Sunday afternoon to find a Brockton man who allegedly trespassed in the woods on Foundry Street. Shawn W. Cox, 34 of Brockton was arrested for trespassing after a search led State Police to the woods near Foundry Street at approximately 1 p.m. State Police said they received a 911 call with a baby crying in the background. The victim said a domestic assault took place, but later said there was no assault. Cox was transported to the New Bedford House of Correction Sunday night.
