Sewer Betterments an Issue of Contention for North Easton Villagers Outspoken residents made it clear to Easton selectmen Monday night that they are not happy with the price they'll pay in betterments for construction associated with the North Easton Village Wastewater Treatment Project. Selectmen unanimously approved estimated betterment assessments for the 88 parcels in the district. Selectman Todd Gornstein was not present. The average single family homeowner in the district received an estimated assessment of $20,900. Particularly large houses, multi-family homes or commercial properties received a higher estimated assessment. Watch: Boston Marathon Runner from Easton Delivers Inspiring Speech Prior to Stoughton Road Race Prior to the start of the 5 School 5K road race, held April 27 at the Stoughton YMCA, Bobby O'Donnell III, son of Stoughton Fire Department Captain Bob O'Donnell and Easton resident, addressed the crowd of runners and spectators, delivering an inspirational speech before the field of nearly 200 participants was set to begin the 3.1-mile course. O'Donnell, 19, a 2012 graduate of Oliver Ames, and a freshman at St. Anslem College, was one of many runners stopped short of finishing the Boston Marathon on April 15 of this year due to the terrorist bombings. Easton’s Brennan Williams Taken in Third Round of NFL Draft Brennan Williams was selected by the Houston Texans in the third round of the National Football League Draft Friday night. Williams was the 89th player selected overall. An offensive tackle from the University of North Carolina. Williams was projected to be taken some time between the second and fourth round of this year's draft. Williams' roots are right here in the Shovel Town. The 6-6 315 pound lineman is a native of Easton and a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School. His father, Brent, played 11 years in the NFL as a defensive lineman, including a stint with the New England Patriots. House Party Leads to Traffic-Halting Fight on Route 138 in Easton One was arrested Friday evening after a Washington Street party near Stonehill's campus that resulted in a traffic-halting brawl in the middle of the road. Christine Vivero, 21, of Connecticut was charged with assault and battery on a police officer and disorderly conduct after police arrived on the scene of the fight, Police Chief Allen Krajcik said. Raymond Bass, 22 of Canton and John Gomes, 21 of Hyannis were also placed in protective custody, Easton Police said. Easton Marathon Runner: ‘God was With Me’ Just one half mile from finishing his first Boston Marathon, 25.7 miles into a 26.2 mile trek, Bobby O'Donnell III of Easton was stopped short of finishing, like so many other runners on Monday afternoon. The 117th running of the Boston Marathon came to a halt at 2:50 p.m. April 15 when two bombs went off near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing at least three and injuring well over 100 more, according to CBS Boston. Following the explosions, police and race officials soon started stopping the runners, O'Donnell, a 2012 graduate of Oliver Ames, and a 19-year-old freshman at St. Anslem College, said. Two-Alarm Fire Rips Through Bay Road Garage in Easton, Good Samaritans Assist A two-alarm fire caused extensive damage to a Bay Road garage and house Monday afternoon. Thanks in part to two good Samaritans, though, nobody was injured. Easton Fire Chief Kevin Partridge said residents Mike Boyd and Bob Cummings were driving by 331 Bay Road when they saw the entire garage of the house engulfed in flames. Resident Robert Thorton was outside calling to his wife Althea, who was inside the house. She wasn't hearing him and was unaware of the fire to the adjacent garage. Boyd and Cummings sprung to action - entering the house and escorting Anthea Thorton from the building. "I want to thank them," Partridge said. "We’re very appreciative of them." …

Town Administrator’s Capital Budget Fully Funds Technology Request For Schools Easton Town Administrator David Colton told selectmen Monday night that he is recommending the town fully fund the school department's capital budget request for technology. His decision overrides Easton's Capital Planning Committee, which recommended the town include $50,000 worth of the School Department's $173,000 request, the majority of which was dedicated for wireless internet funding in Easton Middle School and the Olmsted-Richardson schools. Colton's Capital Budget also differs from the Capital Planning Committee in that it will not include pavement management road funding for the Department of Public Works. Friends, Community Members Remember Hamilton, Share Condolences Friends, family, and community members will gather Tuesday afternoon to remember Alexandra (Ali) Hamilton during visiting hours at Kane Funeral Home. Hamilton, a 22-year-old Easton resident passed away Friday from injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident on Turnpike Street. 22-Year-Old Easton Woman Dies in Overnight Accident Easton is mourning the loss of one of it's own today. Alexandra Hamilton, 22, of Easton passed away at Brigham and Women's hospital Friday from injuries sustained during an overnight accident on Turnpike Street.
