O'Connell Reminds Residents to Support Small Business

State Rep Shaunna O'Connell [R-Taunton] reminded residents to support small businesses this weekend.

From the Office of State Rep. Shaunna O'Connell: Today, State Representative Shaunna O’Connell [R-Taunton], chairwoman of the Small Business Caucus, is reminding Massachusetts residents to shop a local business this coming Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving.  O'Connell represents Precinct 6 of Easton. Last year O’Connell was able to pass a House Resolution establishing Small Business Weekend.  The purpose of the resolution was to recognize the important economic role and positive impacts small businesses have on our communities and to encourage shopping at “Main Street” local businesses. O’Connell believes that a public awareness campaign will help increase revenue for local businesses, which will in turn help increase employment …

Meet the Candidates: Shaunna O'Connell and Sherry Costa Hanlon

The candidates are running for the 3rd Bristol District State Rep seat, which represents Precinct 6 in Easton.

Easton Patch recently sent candidates for the 3rd Bristol District a list of questions regarding their background and certain issues affecting the district. The district represents the 6th precinct in Easton and parts of Taunton. Incumbent Shaunna O'Connell (R-Taunton) is defending her seat against Democratic Challenger Sherry Costa-Hanlon. Here is a look at the answers they sent back: 1. Why are you running for State Representative? O'Connell: As a lifelong resident of the district, I truly care about the people.  My goal is to create a better economic climate so we can grow jobs and provide economic security to families and seniors once again.  In Massachusetts, the small business community creates 3 out of every 4 new jobs. As your …

Letter to the Editor: O'Connell is Best for Business

Shaunna O'Connell is running for re-election for State Rep in the 3rd Bristol District, which will represent Precinct 6 in Easton.

Dear Editor: I have managed our business, New England Ice Cream for the past ten years in Taunton.  No elected official has ever reached out to me about how to reduce the government burden on our business until State Representative Shaunna O’Connell.  Not only am I a local business operator, but I am also the President of the Massachusetts Vending Machine Association.  Two years ago I took our business in a different direction and cut the vending machine sector because regulations were making it too tough to earn a profit.  If I had known at that time I was going to have an ally like Shaunna O’Connell at the State House, I might have made a different decision. Unfortunately, there are far too many people at the State House and within state…

I live in Taunton, and I have seen firsthand the great things that Rep O'Connell has accomplished in her first term in office. Her work with small business doesn't get the same attention that her work with EBT reform gets, but it is equally important. Then there is the work she has done that you never hear about, like her support of Veterans and Seniors. She has done more in two years than her …   more ›
