Mother of Band Director Robert Wheeler remembered for her exemplary support
It took twelve years to accomplish, but perseverance paid off. Members of the school’s TEMPO club, a parent organization for the school’s music programs, have long wanted to honor a special woman for all the support she gave to their sons and daughters. Submitted to Easton Patch: The Oliver Ames High School Show Choir and Pit Band, Panache’, received a Gold Medal and were named Grand Champions at the 11th Annual Mill City Show Choir Festival at Lowell High School Saturday. With an eye on making amends for last year’s disappointing Silver Medal and third place showing, the group worked hard to deliver a fabulous performance, wowing the audience and winning accolades from the judges. Janice Wheeler - or as many of us lovingly referred to her - Flash Wheeler - was a true friend. She was a mentor and a coach on many of the long trips when we were away from home. She was the shoulder to cry on if you had anything going on at school and was the first person to celebrate major milestones, like getting your license, getting a lead in the school play and getting into college. …   more ›
