Patch Recipes: Simple Cranberry Sauce

This is an item even a person who fears the kitchen can make.

So you get that call early next week from the host of your Thanksgiving dinner (maybe it's your mother, grandmother, a friend or even somebody you barely know), and the person tells you in so many words that this meal isn't free. You don't have to pay for the food, but you must contribute to the meal. "Uh-oh! I can barely handle microwaving a Hot Pocket," you think to yourself. What do you do? Do not just go to the store and buy a box of instant mashed potatoes. Trust me, they'll notice. But don't freak out, not all recipes are complex. It is possible for those whose cooking experience is limited to stirring ramen noodles to contribute a tasty food item to the Thanksgiving meal. The following recipe for cranberry sauce is from my mother …

Standing-Room-Only Crowd For OA-Sharon Football

Sharon draws about 1,500 fans -- twice its usual gridiron turnout.

Sharon resident Tom Duffy says he parked "about a half mile" behind Sharon High School for today's Oliver Ames-Sharon varsity football game. Parking spaces -- and seats -- were scarce when he arrived, for the start of the second quarter. "It's very impressive, the turnout here. No doubt about it," Duffy said while standing and watching the game from the fence around the field. "This is probably the 10th year I've been to the game, and this is far and away the biggest turnout, which is nice." Sharon Athletic Director Robert Sondheim estimated the crowd at 1,500 -- twice Sharon's usual football crowd. "I don't remember, at least since I've been here," another game like this, he said. Sondheim had ordered 2,000 advance tickets -- some of …

Whatever it is, we want to know what EASTON thinks! Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks, spending time with family, eating food and watching football. But for many, Thanksgiving Eve is a time to reunite with old friends and socialize. And in Easton, there is no shortage of places to go. Where in Easton will you spend your Thanksgiving Eve?

Question of the Day

Question of the Day: Black Friday

Is it worth it to fight the crowds on Black Friday? If so, where is the best place to go?

We'll be asking Easton Patch readers a different question every weekday. Questions could range from local decisions made by officials, to state issues, to national politics and entertainment. Whatever it is, we want to know what EASTON thinks! With Veteran's Day over, Thanksgiving is right around the corner. The weather is changing and Easton residents are finalizing plans with family members for that Turkey-filled Thursday. With Thanksgiving comes the beginning of the Christmas season - specifically, Black Friday. While many wait in lines and fight the crowds on that hectic day, others feel it is not worth it. What about you, Easton? Is it worth it to fight the crowds on Black Friday? If so, where is the best place to go?
